Garden Party/ BBQ 2010

BBQ parties are very popular in Canada, Australia, the U.S.

and many other countries. In Fukushima, the closest thing

would be an IMONIKAI but it tends to always be by a river,

under a bridge, and in the autumn. Hanami is in early spring

but the trend seems to be eating rice balls with a can of beer.

The fun in BBQs is that they are often held at home and during

the summer months. Family and friends get together with the

parents tending the grill as the children play in the backyard.

So as to experience this western culture everyone is invited to

Regis’s home for a Canadian style BBQ on April 29th (13:00-

15:30. And, the two YAEZAKURA trees should be in full

bloom!!

Participation fees are ¥1000 for children ages 2 to 12 and

¥1500 for 13 and above. Draft beer and wine will also be

available at ¥500/glass. Please sign-up by 4/22. Feel free to

bring a friend and remember: if you want to drink get a lift or

take the bus!!

バーベキューパーティは、カナダやオーストラリア、アメリカなどではとても人気があります。日本の、秋の芋に会や、春のお花見の感覚に似ているかもしれません。バーベキューは主に夏の間に家の裏庭などで行われます。家族や友達が集まって、子どもたちが芝生の上で遊んでいる中、楽しく料理を食べます。そんな欧米の文化を体験できる良い機会として、レジス先生のプロヴァンス風の家でバーベキュー＆ガーデンパーティを開きます。アゴラのみなさん、ぜひ遊びにきてくださいね。お友達もぜひ誘って、みんなで楽しみましょう。庭の2本の八重桜が満開になるのでお花見もできます。 広い芝生の

のテストは、オフィスに先生がいるときならいつでも受けられます。5月から新年度になり、それぞれ一つ

上のクラスに進級しますので、合格していないページは4月の間に再テストを受けるようにしましょう。Challenge Book testing can be done at any time

teachers are available in the office. Please be sure to

get tested during April if you require extra testing.

2. 5月からの新年度に向けて、現在受講中のクラスを

他の曜日、他の時間に変更したい、もしくはクラスの事について先生と相談したいという場合は、オフィスまでお申し込み下さい。（変更は、4月17日まで）The new school year starts in May with some

changes to the schedule. If you wish to consult a

teacher regarding your classes please consult the office.

4. 90分間のアダルトレッスン半額割引について・・・AGORAで勉強している子供たちのご両親と祖父母のみなさん全てに、50%の割引が適用されます。1ヶ月9450円のレッスン料が半額の4725円になります。ぜひ、子供たちと一緒にレッスンを始めませんか！A 50% discount is offered to all parents &

grandparents of children are studying at AGORA for

adult lessons. A 90 minute lesson would be reduced

from ¥9450 to ¥4725.

1. こどもフランス語クラスが５月に始まります！

１年生から６年生を対象とし、英語でフランス語を学びます。英語のクラスを週に2~3回受けているお子さんにはぴったりです。第二言

語以上を学んでいる事は、また別の言語を学ぶ上で、言葉の習得が容易であると言われています。英語の理解力も向上します！ALS French for children will be starting in May! This class is open

to children from grades 1 to 6 and is taught in English. This class is

perfect for children already taking 2 or 3 English classes per week.

It is a known fact that languages become easier to learn when learning

more than one. It is a fun class and your English skills are sure to

improve.

2. 5月スタート 新AGSクラス紹介 ： 金曜日15時45分～１７時45分

（2時間） Dave先生によるAGS総合科目ｸﾗｽ （英語で学ぶ世界の文化、科学、音楽、フランス語、AGS英語）A two-hour AGS class covering 6 subjects (Culture, Fun Science,

English, Music, French, and Math) will be starting in May. This

class caters to children graduating from AGORA Kindergarten,

children who have lived abroad, and children who have excelled in

ALS. Dave will be teaching this class on Fridays from 15:45.

3. 5月スタート 新AGSクラス紹介 ： 木曜日17時～19時（2時間）Dave先生によるAGS高学年クラス（英語で学ぶ世界の文化、科学、そしてAGS上級英語）A two-hour advanced AGS class covering three subjects (Culture,

Fun Science, & English) will be starting in May. This class is open

to advanced children who have already taken AGS classes. Dave will

be teaching this class.

4. 中学２年生英語クラスNew Horizonの教科書を使い、90分の英語の授業を行います。英

会話スキルを上達させながら、学校の予習をする良い機会です。A 90 minute 2nd year J/H class focusing on the New Horizon text

book will be starting his month. This is a great chance for Junior

High students to get ahead in their school studies while increasing

their oral English skills! Yumi will be teaching this class.

5. 英検3級対策クラス 水曜日19時30分～21時４級を合格したお子さん対象の 毎週水曜日90分のレッスンです。Eiken Level 3 will be taught on Wednesday evenings from 19:30 by

Yumi. This 90 min. class is open to students having passed level 4.

From May AGORA will be adopting the new book WE

CAN! on Tuesdays and Fridays. This goal oriented book

includes a workbook for homework study and two CDs.

Conversation practice, phonics, grammar, reading, writing,

and songs are all included in this very well balanced book.

Similar to the Challenge Book this new series clearly states

the goal for each class which is a great help for parents

wishing to follow their children’s progress.

Book 1 will be used on Fridays from 15:45. This class is

perfect for students in the BLUE and/or YELLOW class. It

would also be appropriate for GREEN level children

requiring extra work. Book 3 will be used on Tuesdays

from 16:40 and is good for children in GREEN or above.

5月から始まる 新クラス “WE CAN! ” は、高学年は火曜日16:50～17:40、低学年は金曜日15:45～16:35に行われます。“WE CAN! ”の教材は、テキストとワークブックがありそれぞれにCDがついています。会話練習、フォニックス、文法、読書、ライティング、歌と非常にバランスのよい教材です。Challenge Bookに

似た内容ではありますが、この新しいシリーズの教材も合わせて受講することにより、英語がもっと楽しくなり、受講前よりも英語の力が一層付いていくことと確信し、この教材を導入しました。（英検受験にも対応しています）金曜日のクラスは、BLUEやYELLOW

レベルの学生に絶好です。火曜日のクラスは、GREENレベル以

上の学生対象です。

After graduating from Brock University in

Communications, Sachin (25) came to Japan and

worked for two years at Amity English School. We

are very lucky to have him with us teaching both

ALS classes and AGORA Kindergarten.
