Hope, Help and How-tos

A Time to Heal was founded by Drs. Stephanie Koraleski and Kay Ryan who continue to oversee the training of teams and conduct the sessions in Omaha.

For more program information, please visit ATTH.org

A Time to Heal is a foundation dedicated to helping cancer survivors and their families create the best lives possible after cancer. A Time to Heal sponsors several programs:

• The 12-Week Cancer Wellness Rehabilitation class provides participants with research-based information about rebuilding and maintaining health or coping with chronic cancer; managing the emotional impact of cancer and ongoing check-ups; opportunities to talk to professionals and other cancer survivors; and training in specific relaxation and coping techniques. Classes are FREE and open to survivors of all types of cancer and their caregivers.

• The 8-Week Cancer-Related Brain Fog class helps cancer survivors cope with and build skills to recover from cognitive problems related to cancer such as memory and task management. Tuition is charged, but full and partial scholarships are available.

• The Metastatic Cancer Support Group focuses on helping those with Stage 4 cancer live their best lives by promoting hope, happiness and healthy lifestyles. The support group is ongoing and meets the second and fourth Tuesday of each month year round.

• A Time to Heal 2 is a weekend retreat for people who have already graduated from A Time to Heal to refresh, reflect, and re-commit to living their best, healthiest lives. This retreat is offered one or two times per year.

What is A Time to Heal?

Prepare for a day filled with hope, help, and how-tos as A Time to Heal brings together the best of the best information and resources for anyone whose

life has been touched by cancer.

The second annual conference takes place at the University of Nebraska at Omaha campus in the Community

Engagement Center (with reserved parking).

University of Nebraska at Omaha Barbara Weitz Community Engagement Center

6001 Dodge St. Omaha, NE 68182-0874

This magnificent building in the center of campus in midtown Omaha is fully handicap-accessible. As with any conference, temperatures outside and inside may vary, so bring a sweater and any special foods or needs you may require other than the lunch provided (which is included in your registration fee).

“This was very well done. I liked the facility, food, and having the conference with both patients and professionals.”“It’s great as a patient to be able to get the high-level information that professionals receive at their conferences, but translated into layman’s language.”

“Loved being able to experience different relaxation techniques and guided imagery.”

Conference Objectives

• Learners will be able to identify two common issues of long term cancer survivorship.

• Learners will be able to describe three strategies for optimizing their cancer survivorship outcomes.

“Absolutely one of the best conferences I have attended in 20 years of social work! Thank you!”“From a caregiver/nursing perspective I LOVED this conference.
