Dr. Gia V. Ortega is a Clinical Psychologist and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. Her clinical experience dates back to 2002 when she became a behavior therapist for children with autism. She received her formal ABA training from Penn State University in 2005, an Autism certification in 2007 and a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from Ponce School of Medicine in Ponce, Puerto Rico in 2008. Dr. Ortega owns and directs a pediatric clinic focusing on assessments and treatments of developmental disorders. Her current interests include Pivotal Response Training for children with autism, psychological assessments, peer mediated interventions, and parent trainings.

Mr. Jason Garner, M.A.

Jason Garner is the Clinical Director of Applied Behavioral Analysis at the Child Early Intervention Medical Center in Dubai. He graduated as a Behavior Analyst with a B.A in Psychology from The University of Southern California and completed an M.A. in Psychology from The University of Nevada. He has worked in the field of ABA for 18 years and has provided in- school district supervision and training and has taught parents and therapists how to deliver ABA programs that have been specifically designed for many children of ages ranging from 1.5 years to 22 years. He provides workshops on challenging behaviors, and teaches individuals how to implement behavior support programs in the home, community and school settings. Furthermore, he provides consultative support to individual families and school districts in several other countries.

Dr. Melissa Olive, Ph.D., B.C.B.A-D

Dr. Olive co-founded Applied Behavioral Strategies, LLC in 2010. She oversees ABA services for children with autism and developmental disorders and she is adjunct faculty at the University of Saint Joseph. She serves on two Editorial Review Boards and is a guest reviewer for the Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders. Missy has published 30 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters. In addition to her research on communication intervention and challenging behavior, Missy has a strong interest in family issues related to children with disabilities. Since 1993, she has cared for and advocate on behalf of her brother, Mac, an adult with autism and intellectual disability.

Mrs. Rebecca Ryan is Executive Director of Sandbox Strategies, a behavioral consulting entity. She began working with children with autism in 1997 as an ABA specialist, and continues to work with children and families, assisting with program planning and intensive interventions. As part of her outreach services, she presents on ABA and related topics at conferences for parents and professionals.

Mrs. Jennifer Crawford distinguished educator in the field of early childhood education for children with autism, Mrs. Crawford is also the founder and Executive Director of The Learning Lane, an educational center for children with autism and other developmental challenges. Leading a team of teaching professionals, Mrs. Crawford is committed to the continuous development of her teaching staff in the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis. Moreover, she is dedicated to creating awareness and educating the local community on children with autism.

Dr. Linda J. Parrott Hayes, Ph.D.

Dr. Linda J. Parrott Hayes is a Distinguished International Professor at the University of Nevada-Reno, USA. She founded the Behavior Analysis Program at UNR, which recently received the prestigious Enduring Contributions to Behavior Analysis Award from the Society for the Advancement of Behavior Analysis. Dr. Hayes also founded and directs the University’s Satellite Programs in Behavior Analysis. She is a former President of the Association for Behavior Analysis International and currently chairs the Association’s Education Board. Dr. Hayes has published extensively in the areas of complex human behavior and the philosophy of behavior science.

Ms. Thommen is the Executive Director of ABA Today, LLC an in-home Applied Behavior Analysis program in Central Texas. She is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst who has been working with individuals with Autism for over 10 years. She holds a Masters degree in Autism and Developmental Disabilities from the University of Texas-Austin. She also sits on the advisory board of parent and professional organizations.

Dr. Mohammad Ali Fteiha is an assistant professor of Special Education at the Abu Dhabi University. Dr. Fteiha holds a PhD in Special Education, Master in Speech-Language Pathology and Communication Disorder. He has worked as Head of Speech- Communication Unit at Dubai Autism Center and has been an ADOS examiner. He was awarded the Khalifa Award for Education in 2012, awarded the Princess Haya Award for Special Education as Outstanding Speech therapist and Employee of the year 2008 and was also awarded by Harvard Medical School Dubai Center the TAMAYOZ award for health care professional 2007. Has been working with children and young people who have Special Needs and Autism for over 10 years. Dr. Fteiha has participated and attended local and international conferences about ASD and Communication.

Dr. Mohammad Ali Fteiha, Ph.D.

Mrs. Kariman Hamami has been working with children with special needs for over 10 years, she took upon several roles including a classroom head teacher, ABA therapist and ABA program supervisor. Kariman has attained a Bachelors of Psychology, completed a BCABA course from Florida’s Institute of Technology and two intensive Applied Behavior analysis course. In addition, Kariman holds a teacher training college certificate. Kariman mainly focuses on developing and implementing programs for children between the ages 24 months and 15 years. Currently at the Child Learning and Enrichment Medical Center, Kariman is a head teacher for our learning day program and is also in charge of the “After School Learning” support program. Ms. Kariman Hamami

Dr. Shola Faniran graduated from the University of Ilorin, Nigeria before relocating to Australia. She obtained a PhD in Medicine from the University of Sydney Australia in 1998. The focus of Dr. Shola’s PhD was childhood asthma. After her PhD, Dr. Shola went on to complete her paediatric training at the Sydney Children’s Hospital and the Children’s Hospital at Westmead. She completed her subspecialty training in Child Development and Behavior and Child Protection. Dr. Shola is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (Paediatrics and Child Health). Dr. Shola has over 20 years experience in paediatrics with the last 7 years focused mainly on developmental and behavioural paediatrics. She has published widely in refereed international journals and presented several conference papers in child health and development. She currently produces a monthly digest of selected key articles from the medical literature about child health and developmental behavioural disorders, compiled for educators, school health workers and medical practitioners in the U.A.E. Dr. Shola currently consults in General Paediatrics at the Dubai London Clinic and Developmental Paediatrics at the Child Learning and Enrichment Medical Centre.

Ms. Cherine Basfer, M.S., BCBA®

Ms. Cherine Basfer is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, currently the Clinical Supervisor at the ABA Division, Jeddah Institute for Speech and Hearing in Saudi Arabia. She graduated with a Master of Science in Behavior Analysis from Simmons College, Boston. She has been working with children with special needs for 10 years. She conducts curriculum-based and functional behavioral assessments, as well as develops individualized behavior plans and educational programming for each child. She has been supervising and training behavior therapists, ABA case managers, and candidates for board certification, as well as providing consultation for different divisions within the Institute including Speech and Language Pathology Division and Oral Rehabilitation Division.

Ms. Maryam Hussain, M.H.Sc, CASLPO Reg. Certified SLP

Ms. Maryam Hussain completed her Bachelors degree Honours in Psychology from York University in 2005. She then received her Masters degree in Health Sciences, specializing in Speech-Language Pathology, from University of Toronto in 2008. She is a Canadian Board Certified Speech - Language Pathologist and possesses certifications in Hanen and PROMPT programs. She has extensive clinical experience as an instructor therapist implementing behaviour analysis programs for children with developmental delays. Maryam is currently working in Saudi Arabia at Saudi Aramco Medical Services Organization as a pediatric Speech – Language Pathologist with emphasis in the areas of Early Intervention and Autism Spectrum Disorders.

Dr. Yaser Al-Sa’bi has a Ph.D. in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Howard University, Washington, DC, USA in 2007. He also holds M.A. in Speech Pathology & Audiology from San Jose State University, California, USA in 1999. Dr. Al Sa’bi obtained his M.A. in Speech Pathology & Communication Disorders from the University of Jordan, Amman, Jordan, in August 1994, and B.A. in English Language and Literature from Yarmouk University, Jordan in January 1989,

AAWC 2013 Terms and Conditions for Delegates: These terms and conditions apply to delegate registrations for all lectures and workshops associated with The Autism Around The World 2013, Dubai, U.A.E. Please read them carefully as they contain important information. By submitting your registration, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree to be bound by these terms, The Child Early Intervention Medical Center (CEIMC), Organizer of The Autism Around The World Conference 2013, will be unable to accept your registration. 1. Your registration constitutes an offer to CEIMC to attend a workshop or a lecture. All registrations are

subject to acceptance by CEIMC which will be confirmed in writing (including but not limited to e-mail). A contract between CEIMC and you will only be formed when this confirmation is sent to you (whether or not it is received); provided that if confirmation is not sent within 14 days of us receiving your registration, it will be deemed to be confirmed unless we notify you otherwise. CEIMC reserves the right to refuse to accept any registration.

2. Payment for a workshop or lecture must be received in full by CEIMC in accordance with CEIMC’s payment terms no later than 48 hours before the scheduled workshop or lecture. A 10% surcharge will be applied for refund or cancellation for any of the events.

3. Discounts for group registrations are only valid for the number of delegates specified. If the number of delegates attending the workshop or lecture is less than the number specified in the group booking (either as a result of cancellations prior to the event or as a result of delegates failing to attend the event), CEIMC reserves the right to revise the fees in line with the number of delegates actually attending in accordance with CEIMC’s published prices. Consequently, CEIMC shall require payment of such fees in accordance with the terms of condition 2.

4. Prices for each lecture/workshop are correct at the time of publication. CEIMC reserves the right to change the prices at any time but changes will not affect registrations which have already been confirmed by CEIMC.

5. Refunds for registration cancelled before January 20, 2013, after confirmation by CEIMC, are subject to an administration charges. Registration cancelled after January 20, 2013 will not be refunded. If you fail to attend a lecture/workshop, the full fees remain payable and no refunds shall be given.

6. Your registration may not be transferred and is issued for your personal use only. You may not purchase registrations as agent for any third party or sell or otherwise transfer your registration to others. You may not exploit the registration commercially or non-commercially in any way. We regret that we cannot accept the transfer of registrations between conferences.

7. CEIMC reserves the right at any time to change the format, participants, content, location and timing or any other aspect of the workshop/ lecture, in each case without liability.

8. CEIMC reserves the right to postpone or cancel a lecture/ workshop without liability at any time for any reason whether or not due to causes beyond its reasonable control. Where a lecture/workshop is postponed, your registration will be valid for the postponed event. You will not be entitled to a refund in the event of postponement or cancellation of the lecture/workshop by CEIMC.

9. CEIMC reserves the right without liability to refuse admission to, or to eject from the lecture/workshop, any person in its absolute discretion, including (without limitation) any person who fails to comply with these terms and conditions or who in the opinion of CEIMC represents a security risk, nuisance or annoyance to the running of the event. You agree to comply with all reasonable instructions issued by CEIMC or the venue owners at the event.

10. All un-authorized photography and the recording or transmitting of audio or visual material, data or information is prohibited. You consent to filming, sound recording and photography of the event as a delegate. You consent to the use by CEIMC of any such recording or photography anywhere in the world for promotional, marketing and other purposes.

11. The personal information which you provide to us will be held by us on a database.

12. CEIMC excludes all liability for loss, injury or damage to persons or property at the event. All indemnities, warranties, terms and conditions (whether express or implied) are excluded. CEIMC accepts no liability for any loss or damage whatsoever that you may suffer in connection with or arising from the event whether direct, indirect or consequential (including but not limited to loss of profit, loss of business or any other type of economic loss) or otherwise. If CEIMC is liable to you for any reason, CEIMC’s total liability to you in relation to the event (whether under these terms or conditions or otherwise) is limited to the amount of the registration fees paid by you to CEIMC. The limitations and exclusions in this condition 12 only apply to the extent permitted by applicable law.

13. CEIMC reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions from time to time, and you will be subject to the terms and conditions in force at the time you submit your registration.

14. These terms and conditions will be governed by the laws of the Emirate of Dubai and such federal laws of the UAE applicable in the Emirate of Dubai. Disputes under or in connection with them shall be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of Dubai.
