Mental

bene-fits

-Yoga helps reduce stress.

Any physical activity, espe-cially yoga, helps reduce stress.

Because yoga requires deep concentration, you temporar-

ily forget about your prob-lems. As you relax your body, you will

feel relieved and uplifted.

-Yoga helps concentra-tion.

Many studies have shown that yoga increases oxygen level to

the brain, which leads to better concentration. When the brain does not get enough oxygen, it can lead to sleep disorders,

poor concentration, depres-sion and mood swings. Being

constantly focused during yoga sessions will help you acquire

the ability to concentrate better.

Kimchi picked as symbol of

Korea A recent poll showed that foreign

students studying in Korea con-sidered kimchi as the symbol of Korea. The survey asked students what the first thing was that came to mind when they thought of Korea.

Out of the 101 foreign respon-dents, 42 students chose kimchi. The next most popular was Ko-rean TV dramas with 20 picks. Other answers included the Ko-rean alphabet, hangeul, and in-formation technology.

Stephanie Meyer(Twilight author)

wrotea new book!

I have a new book coming out. It's called The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner. Well, it's more of a novella than an actual book—my version of a short story.

Actually, this has been a surprise to me, too. The reason why it's a surprise was that I never intended to publish this story as a stand-alone book. I began this story a long time ago—before Twilight was even released. Back then I was just editing Eclipse, and in the thick of my vampire world. I was thinking a lot about the newborns, imagining their side of the story, and one thing led to another. I started writ-ing from Bree's perspective about those final days, and what it was like to be a newborn.

This story was something that I worked on off and on for a while, just for fun, in between the times I was writing or editing other Twi-light novels. Later, when the con-cept for The Twilight Saga: The Of -ficial Guide came up, I thought that might be a good place for Bree. Her story is a nice complement to Eclipse; it explains a lot of the things that Bella never knew. So I dusted it off and finished it up for placement in the Guide.

There was one thing I asked for: since this story had always been an extra for me, and was meant to be released with the Guide, I wanted to be able to offer it to my fans for free. You all have bought a ton of my books, and I wanted to give you this story as a gift.

My publisher was awesome and

embraced this idea. We still wanted to also produce a physical book with a cool cover (see below) that you can add to your set if you like, but starting at noon on June 7th until July 5th, it will also be available online at www.breetanner.com.

• One dollar of each book purchased in the US from the first printing will be donated to the American Red Cross for their relief efforts in Haiti and Chile and other parts of the world where people are in great need.

Horace New-ton Allen

He was born in Delaware, Ohio in April 23, 1858. He received his B.S. at Ohio Wesleyan University, in 1881 and subsequently graduated from Miami Medical School in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1883.

At his own request, he was ap-pointed on a mission to China by the Board of Foreign Missions of the Presbyterian Church and a year later he was sent to work at the United States Legation to Korea as physician. Soon after his arrival with his family on September 20, 1884, he was involved in the af-termath of Gapsinjeongbyeon, dur-ing which a royal relative Min Young Ik was stabbed and in-jured.

The German diplomat Paul Georg von Möllendorff was present at the massacre and quickly requested Allen's medi-cal care. Under his modern med-ical treatment unknown to Korea at the time, Min Young Ik recov-ered in three months. Conse-quently, this initiated for Allen a close connection with Gojong, and demonstrated the benefit of western medicine to the Korean public. With this auspicious turn of events Allen was able to es-tablish Gwanghyewon ( 廣惠院 , House of Extended Grace) under royal finance and support in Seoul.

Gwanghyewon was the first modern medical facility in Korea. The Gwanghyewon was soon renamed by Gojong to Che Chung Won (the House of Civilized Virtue) and evolved to become the current Sev-erance Hospital and Yonsei University College of Medicine in Seoul, Korea. He was instrumental to lift the nation's anti-Christianity policy to allow the influx of mission-aries to evangelize, build schools and other western hospitals in the Hermit Kingdom.
