       “Are you ready to get to Iraq, buddy?” Greg Smithasked his son,      “I am ready and very excited to start our trip.” Maxresponded.

      They were in the airplane flying to Iraq fromAmerica. It was just a father and son trip. They traveled toIraq to go exploring. They landed in the evening at theBaghdad International Airport. From there they went totheir hotel. It was a tall, narrow building near the desert.When they arrived at their hotel room they immediatelyfell asleep.

The next morning they left their hotel and wentout into the open land. They were out in the desertsearching for random things for fun.

“Are we ever going to find anything?” Max asked“It is called searching not finding for a reason.”

Greg answered.They were out in the desert for hours searching.

They sat down for lunch and each of them had asandwich they made earlier in the day. It was aboutthree o’clock when all of a sudden it started gettingvery windy, and they sand started to rise off of theground. They each looked at each other and theyboth yelled,

“SANDSTORM!!!!!!”

They looked around and Max spotted a cave twofootball fields

behind them.“Dad, look, a cave it is not that far away,” Max

told his father,“Good eyes Max, quick, run before the sandstormreaches us.” Greg said.

They turned around and sprinted to the cave.The sandstorm was on their tail chasing them to thecave. When the were ten yards away for the cave, thesandstorm caught them. They couldn’t see anything.They just ran straight and hoped they would run intothe cave. They entered the cave and sat downhugging each other for dear life.

It was about nine o’clock P.M. when thesandstorm had ended, they stop hugging eachother and looked behind them. Behind them wasthe Statue Of Gilgamesh. They couldn’t believetheir eyes. They took many pictures of thestatue. They didn’t want to take the statuebecause it could break very easily.

The story of Gilgamesh is one of the oldestrecorded stories in the world. Gilgamesh was thefifth king of Uruk. He was believed to betwo­thirds god and one­third human. His motherwas the goddess Ninsun. Also, his father was ahigh priest. They were very happy and wanted tofind something else.

Before they even knew it, their trip was over.When they arrived at home Max went back toschool. In his Social Studies class they werelearning about the Mesopotamians and theteacher was talking about Gilgamesh and shesaid the Statue of Gilgamesh did not exist.

“It does too exist!” Max blurted out duringclass,

“No it does not Max” his teacher responded,“Tomorrow let me prove it to the class.

Okay?” Max asked,“Alright Max, show us your proof”

The next day Max came into school with hispictures and the whole class had that stunnedlook on their face, including the teacher. Maxand his dad will never forget their great trip toIraq. No one else ever found the Statue ofGilgamesh again.
