The Effects:

Economic: SB 48 would require the use of extensive taxpayer dollars to review, revise, adopt and produce curriculum resources (i.e., textbooks) with an eye to promoting a political agenda at a time when CA is in a severe budget crisis.

The Effects:

Educational: SB 48 would require teachers to take time away from focusing on traditionally recognized California and American heroes in order to promote the “role and contributions” of “LGBT heroes.”

The Effects:

Less George Washington…More Chaz Bono!

Dancing with the Stars

The Effects:Conscience/Religious Liberty: SB 48 would force some public school educators to go against their own deeply held religious and moral beliefs in order to endorse “LGBT heroes” in their schools and classrooms. By law, educators cannot say anything that “reflects adversely” on these behaviors.

The Effects:Indoctrination/Parental Rights : SB 48 would expose children as young as five years old to the “role and contributions” of “LGBT heroes” in the classrooms. Parents would not be able to have their children “opt out” from learning about these sinful and aberrant behaviors and lifestyles.

The Efforts:Several statewide groups have formed a “Stop SB 48” coalition to collect petitions to place a repeal or “People’s Veto” of SB 48 on the ballot in 2012:

>Capitol Resource Institute>Pacific Justice Institute>Traditional Values Coalition

A single church is serving as the call center and collection point for the petitions: Calvary Chapel Chino Hills led by Pastor Jack Hibbs. Will we step up and help?

The Efforts:

The Efforts:The goal is to turn in a minimum of 505,000 certified petitions by October 12. Thus far, over 300K have been certified with another 200K having been received for inspection and there are more coming in daily. The coalition is optimistic, but if we fail, the law goes into effect on January 1, 2012.
