Andy Warhol y Pat Hackett, POPism, Nueva York, Harcourt Brace & Co., 1980.
“The sounds of phones and buzzers and camera shutters andflashbulb pops and the Moviola going and slides clickingthrough viewers … all those things were reassuring to me. I knew that work was going on even if I didn’t have any ideawhat the work would come to … Machinery had already takenover people’s sex lives —dildos and all kinds of vibrators—and now it was taking over their social lives too, with taperecorders and Polaroids.”

Lynne Tillman, «Like Rockets and Television», en The Velvet Years: Warhol’s Factory 1965-1967, StephenShore y Lynne Tillman, Londres, Pavilion, 1995.
“… [M]any people were drawn to Warhol and the Factory. Thesephotographs confirm that, obviously. People are framed in allkinds of scenes—on film shoots, in individual portraits, candidshots, formal ones, in groups, working, kidding around. Theframe is an embrace, a lover’s decision, and like any embrace, something’s included, something’s excluded … The Factoryitself was a frame, including, excluding … There’s a cast ofcharacters and a stage, the Factory, on which they perform, pose, or act themselves in front of Shore’s camera. The period—its conflicts, customs— surfaces sometimes obliquely inthese photographs. What’s not seen, not in the Factory, not inthe picture, also reverberates. The viewer may intrude into thepicture plane, place oneself in or out, fill in the blanks.”
