Old Bathing Suit doesn’t Fit??? Catholic Charities has a clothing collection bin on our property. The bin is located in the back of our

Convent building. They take clean & usable clothing items, shoes, and

small appliances. (No furniture.) All items are refurbished and used in thrift shops to

assist those less fortunate than ourselves. Why not put your unused summer clothing to

“Good Use?”

THE GREATEST NEED

The world’s greatest need is not more Christians but more Christians who practice

their Christianity. —Anonymous

TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION Summer “officially” begins this week! (June 21) We have the joy of celebrating one of the great

hidden treasures of our liturgical calendar on Wednesday, June 24th :

Nativity of St. John the Baptist. There are only three “nativity” feasts on our calendar: The Birth of our Lord, (December 25), the Blessed Mother (September 8), and Wednesday’s: Birth of John the Baptist. This Feast is anchored by the Annunciation (March 25), when Mary learns not only of her own child’s advent, but of Elizabeth’s child.

We are exactly half a year away from Christmas Eve.

There are strong traditions around this feast. Just as the winter solstice provides a rich vocabulary for Christmas, so does the abundance of light at midsummer inform this celebration. Just as at Christmas, a religious festival spills over into culture. As summer light reaches its peak, the sun-drenched zones of northern Europe see people stay-ing up all night, kindling “St. John’s fires” in the long summer twilight. Bonfires seem to be the unifying force in all these celebrations, kindled along the shores of the St. Lawrence in Quebec and Montreal, with harbor illuminations in France. You may be most interested in the custom in San Juan, Puerto Rico, the Baptist’s own city. People there will leap into the sea between midnight and dawn to honor John. Why not find your way to a pool, a lake, or a sandy beach this week and plunge in to recall your Baptism? It’s a tradition!

Our parish was blessed last weekend. Newly ordained Priest: Fr. Jason Makarow

celebrated our 8:15 & 9:30 AM Masses. At the conclusion of the Masses,

Fr. Jason bestowed his First Priestly Blessing on the congregation. Fr. Jason will be assigned to

St. Stephen’s Church, Kearny. We wish him “God’s Blessings!”

Czerwiec to miesiąc w sposób szczególny poświęcony czci Najświętszego Serca Pana Jezusa.

“Memorial Day” to początek sezonu letniego.

UWAGA UCZNIOWIE SZKÓŁ ŚREDNICH, KANDYDACI DO

BIERZMOWANIA W 2016 ROKU!!!

do sakramentu bierzmowania.

lekcje religii, to będzie potrzebny akt chrztu.

Niech Was Pan błogosławi i strzeże.

Niech Pan rozpromieni oblicze swe nad Wami, niech Was obdarzy swą łaską.
