The Pulse of Shanghai上海的脉动

(1) The Huang Pu River 黄浦江

The Huang Pu River, tail of the China’s mighty Yangze River, flows through Shanghai, merges itself into ocean, wave behind drives front, ever lasting. It witnesses the changes in Puxi, the old city revitalization , also witnesses the changes in Pudong, from farmland to new city after 90s.

黄浦江 , 流经上海，将来自千里之外的长江水汇入浩瀚大海，后浪推前浪，永不止息。它见证着浦西，老城的变迁，见证着浦东， 90年代起由农田变新城。

The Wai Bai Du Bridge (Garden Bridge), at merge point of Huang Pu river and Suzhou river, built in 1856, was one of the landmarks in old Shanghai 。” Bai Du”, in Chinese, free of charge, but in old days, it was only true for foreigners, not for locals.In March of 2009, the third generation of the bridge,repaired in shipyard, was put back to its original location.

外白渡桥，位于黄浦江与苏州河的交汇口，建于 1856 年，是旧上海的标志性建筑之一。当年只向华人收税，外侨概免 , 白渡。2009 年 3 月，在船厂完成大修后的第三代大桥，放回了原位。

The River Bank 浦江沿岸

Twenty some years ago, Shanghai seemed waking up, started large scale of urban renovation and construction. Everyday, the cranes move up and down, not sure what will go up, what will disappear, but for sure there is a need for a new city map every year.

二十多年前，上海似乎醒了，开始了大规模的城市改建和兴建。每天，起重机上下移动，不知什么将拔地而起，什么将被拆除，但可以肯定的是每年需要买份新的城市地图。

(2) The Urban Revitalization 城市的苏 醒

The New World Plaza, was transformed from stone-depot-style housing area.新天地，由旧石库门住宅区改建。

The Cool Docks, transformed from old factories around the old ferry boat dock.老码头，由摆渡船码头旁的旧厂房改建。
