The Science of Thought

The Doorway to Five Senses

Page 2: The science of thought

What is Thought?

Thoughts are the result or product of spontaneous

acts of thinking.

Because thought underlies many human actions and

interactions, understanding its physical and metaphysical

origins, processes, and effects has been a longstanding goal

of many academic disciplines including artificial

intelligence, biology, philosophy, psychology, and sociology.

THOUGHT?

Why is thought so unique ?

Our Thoughts Are More Important to Our Health than Our Genes

Our whole world is a reflection of our thought.

As you think, your thoughts are activated, which in turn determines your attitude, because your attitude is all of your thoughts put together and reflects your state of mind. This attitude is formed in the chemical secretions that are released. Positive attitudes cause the secretion of the correct amount of chemicals, and negative attitudes distort the chemical secretions in a way that disrupts their natural flow. The chemicals are like little cellular signals that translate the information of your thought into a physical reality in your body and mind, creating an emotion. The combination of thoughts, emotions and resulting attitude impacts your body in a positive or negative way. This means your mind and body really are inherently linked, and this link starts with your thoughts.

Speed of Thought

How fast are our thoughts? Are they physical? Or maybe a by-product of simple physical things like electric current and suchlike? Can thoughts be measured? If not, are they bound by physical laws? Could a thought be faster than the speed of light?

In fact nobody knows the answer for it.

Neuroplasticity

it refers to changes in neural pathways and

synapses which are due to changes in

behaviour, environment and neural

processes, as well as changes resulting from

bodily injury.

Power of thoughts

Let’s try an example

Now write your signature with your dominate hand

Now Imagine writing your signature with your dominate hand

Surprisingly ,the time taken do both would take the same time

Page 8: The science of thought

Neural pathway

Neural pathways serve to connect relatively distant areas of the brain or

nervous system, compared to the local communication of grey matter.

Difference between Action And

Imagination?

It was quit surprising to know that your action and

imagination would take the same neural pathway

So, ultimately imagination is approximately equal

to Action

Experiments on thought

A set of students where asked to practice Piano for 2

hours day

While the remain set of students where asked mentally

practice Piano for 2hours per day

Well the results where astounding

Page 11: The science of thought

Contd…

After 3 days both the groups where asked to play the

Piano

It was found that both the groups performed equally well

After 5 days

The group with physical exposure’s , performance was

slightly better than the group with mental practice ,but

here’s the catch mental practice group where able to

cope with physical exposure

Can mental Practice change our

physique ?

One was asked to exercise his fingers by stretching and relaxing in a regular

interval

While the other was asked to imagine doing it

After doing this on a regular basis it was found the

The one with physical exposure had a 30% increase in muscle mass in his

finger.

On the other hand , the one with mental practice had a 22% increase in

muscle mass in his finger .
