Geography
• Tokyo is the capital of Japan
• It has 35 682 460 of inhabitants
• It has a density of 6029,04 inhab/km²
• It is located in the center – east of the
island of Honshu at the east of Asia
• Tokyo is a irregular plan because it was
built in a rocky area
Laid Out
• The Ueno park is one of he most
important museum in Tokyo and it is
also the oldest zoo in Tokyo
• Near it is the Kiyomizu Kannon – do
temple established in 1625 by the
buddhist Tenkai
• The Tosho-gu sanctuary is the
beaoutifulest one
History and Development
• The city was established in 1457 by the shōgunate and it was called Edo. When its role ended it was renamed by Meiji with the name of Tokyo which meant Easter Capital.
• Was accepted as capital since 1869 when the emperor established there
• There was an earthquake in 1923 who killed 70000 people and they made a massive reconstruction which was very expensive
History and Development
• It kept growing until the World War II where Tokyo was bombed and much of the city wasdestroyed
• Its population in 1945 was only half that of 1940.
Enviromental Issues
• There are a lot of disasters in Japan,
specially fires (houses are made of
wood) and earthquakes because it is
located between two tectonic plates
• One important disaster was the
eruption of Fuji in 1707
• Also the earthquake of the Big Edo in
1855
Interesting Issues
• They are called tokiotas
• The city was founded in 1457, it is
divided in to parts continental and
islander
• After the World War II Tokyo became
the world's second-largest economy
by 1966.
