FAMILIAR POSITIVE COMMANDS – same as the third person singular of the present tense of the verb.

E,g. estudia mucho – study hard vuelve a casa a las tres – return home at three

Duerme bien – sleep well

The irregular forms

Ir to go – ve salir – sal hacer – haz decir – di

Tener – ten venir – ven poner – pon ser - se

To form the negative form: Drop the “o” of the first person singular of the present tense of the verb . For verbs ending in “AR”

Replace the “o” with “es” e.g. comprar - No compres NB.Ir – no vayas

Verbs ending with gar will take a “gu” before an “e” , those ending with “zar” will change the “z’ to a “c” before an “e” and those ending with “car” will change to “qu” before an “e” . These changes will also take place with the polite forms of the commands

For those ending in “ ER” or “IR’

Replace the “o” with an “as” e.g. hacer –No, hagas ; dormir - No duermas

Comer - No comas; discutir - No discutas

If verbs are radical changing they will have the radical change in the command as well.

The polite form of the command is formed from the first person of the present tense, drop the “o” and replace with

For the “ER’ and “IR” verbs – “a” in the singular and “an” in the plural

e.g – cerrar - cierre/ cierren; hablar – hable/hablen

HOW I PREFER TO TRAVEL - COMO PREFIERES VIAJAR?

I always catch the bus. It is quick and rather cheap – Yo cojo siempre el autobús. Es rápido y bastante

I prefer walking or riding. There is no pollution and therefore it is better for the environment – Prefiero

ir andando o en bicicleta. No hay contaminación y por eso es mejor para el medio ambiente

I usually take a taxi. I do not like waiting at the bus stop and to stand in the bus. Cojo un taxi

normalmente. No me gusta esperar en la parada de autobús y estar de pie en el autobús.-

I prefer to go by car. Independence is important to me. People on the subway bother me especially at

night. I am afraid sometimes - Prefiero ir en coche. Me importa la independencia. Me molesta la gente

en el metro, sobre todo por la noche. Tengo miedo a veces.

I like travelling by train. I can work and I don’t have to worry about the traffic. With my lap-top I can

write and work as usual. – Me gusta viajar en tren. Puedo trabajar y no tengo que preocuparme del

tráfico. Con mi ordenador portátil puedo escribir y trabajar normalmente.

For me, taxis are quick and clean, and I can read quietly – Para mí, los taxis son rápidos y limpios, y

The buses are very noisy and the people bother me. I prefer trains. – Los autobuses son muy ruidosos y

If I am going to take a long trip, I go by plane. It is quicker,of course, but at times it is not as

comfortable. And I do not like to wait, above all when there is a delay – Si voy a hacer un viaje largo, voy

en avión. Es mas rápido, claro, pero a veces no es tan cómodo. Y no me gusta esperar, sobre todo

cuando hay un retraso.
