Applications are now open for those who fulfill all of the following criteria:1. Currently residing in or employed full-times in Toyohashi2. Does not own a house3. In the low income bracket4. Is not part of gangs or other illegal organizations5. Does not have any overdue payments relating to public housingSuccessful applicants can move into their room on January 1 （Sunday） 2017. For details regarding which public housing complex and other useful information, please check the Toyohashi Public Housing Management Center website. Submit your appli-cation during November 1-11（closed on weekends and public holidays） directly to the Toyohashi Public Housing Managa-ment Center （Shinmei-chou, Toyohashi Front Building 5F）. Vaccinations for Hepatitis B will become mandatory starting on October 1st （Saturday）, and pre-vaccination forms will now be sent to households with a 2 month old infant. This vaccina-tion must be administered three times to infants during their first year after birth. Because it takes approximately 6 months to com-plete all administrations, please make sure to arrange an appointment at your local medi-cal institutions early. TARGET AGE Infants under the age of 1, who were born after April 1 2016.

Other This vaccination will not be subsidized for those who are not in the target age group （0-12 months）. For more information regarding the vaccination, please see the back of the pre-vaccination form. For those infants born before March 31 2016 who are under 12 months, this vaccination is not mandatory – however, are eligible for a ¥2000 subsidy per shot. Information

Subsidies for miscellaneous school fees such as school lunch and school supply are available for eligible municipal elementary / junior high school students. REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR APPLI-CATIONS Document which shows your income from the 2015 fiscal year （withholding stubs or tax filing receipt of all household members earning an income or allowance/benefit card for people receive child/dependent allowance benefits）, personal seal （inkan）, and parent/guardian’s bank book （bank account to which the money will be transferred to）. Toyohashi will begin recycling kitchen waste. The kitchen waste will be processed at the “Biomass Recycling Center”, which will break down kitchen waste into electricity and carbonized fuel. This will involve combining kitchen waste and sewerage for fermentation processing, to produce “biogas”, which will then be used for generating electricity. After the fermentation processing, the waste produced can be further processed into carbonized fuel (diagram below).

Why should we care?This new process is estimated to save 12 billion yen over the course of 20 years, and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 14000 tons per year. It is estimated to generate 6.8 million kwh of electricity per year, which is enough electricity to power approximately 1900 households. Lastly, this recycling process enables kitchen waste to be recycled 100%.

Modeled after the procession of Matsudaira Izunokmi Nobu Akira of the lord of Yoshida Castle to and from Futagawa-juku during the Edo period, this procession displays the Fuzoku Emaki（picture scrolls）of the area. Matsudaira Izunokmi NobuAkira, Masa-hime, Koto-hime, Kinju, Yakko, koshimoto, etc. selected from local residents parade through the town of Futagawa-shuku, in which the visage of a trading post remains.
