“Nothing is at la

st

sacred but the

integrity of your

own mind” –Free Thought

Your own mind is most important. Your opinions should be different then those of others and will be the only thing that will allow yourself to have personal integrity.

Self-Reliance

Self-Reliance

“What I must do is all that concerns me, not what people think.” -Self-Reliance

What you do is your own opinion; it concerns only you for the choices you make in your life. What others may think will not influence you.

Self-Reliance

“ Imitation is suicide”-nonconformity

You should not rely on others to control you. Imitating people is the on thing that will not allow you to create your own character.

Self-Reliance

“Is it so bad then to be misunderstood.” -confidence

Even if there are times when people do not understand your choices and opinions you can still be

a great man. If you are misunderstood it may be because you have a new theory.

Self-Reliance “No kernel of corn can

come to him but through

his toil bestowed

on that plot of

ground which is given to

him to till. -nature

Life isn’t as easy as it seems sometimes. Things get thrown at you that you don’t expect but if

you work hard you will succeed

Walden

“I go and come with a strange liberty”-free thought

When he became accustomed to the nature it created a happiness for him. He was able to hold his head high with nature. He is confident in himself that he does not need the approval of others.

Walden“Why should I feel lonely?”-Self-Reliance

He learned to live on his own and not to be lonely in the woods. He didn’t need another person for his opinions there. He realized that he doesn’t need other people to be happy with himself. Also, that nature is there and will accompany him everywhere.

Walden“Money is not required to buy one necessary of the soul.”- Nonconformity

Even if everyone is materialistic he

does not need it for his soul. Money

does not create happiness. Everything

you need in life to be happy is in nature

and everything around you. Money is

only an object, but it does not need to

be a part of your life.

Walden“ Is it so

.”- C

onfidence

Even if there are tim

es when people do not understand your

choices and opinions, you can still be a great m

an. If you are

misunderstood, it may be because you have a new opinion.

If you are misunderstood it m

eans your thinking outside the

box, and to think differently is never b

ad. To be

misunderstood your ideas are more creative and people just

need to look at them in a diffe

rent angle.

Walden

The life in us is like the water in the river. –importance of nature

- To feel alive he saw himself like the river . It endlessly flows over twists and turns. Obstacles that are in your way can easily be put in your past. Life can flow flawlessly like a river.

TranscendentalismThis quote is an example of transcendentalism because it shows confidence and self reliance .

It shows confidence because you use what is within you to create your character.

It shows self reliance because you should rely on what is within you to define yourself, not the troubles of your past.

Let Yourself ShineThere’s a long lonely road that lies ahead of us. When your standing in a crowd and you wanna stand out you know you can do it if you try

And when I stand here calling I want the world to know I’m not falling  For all the tricks it plays it will get to your head And when it seems like the path is wrong  Keep on walking you won’t have to play along Keep on moving I can say what I mean this time Let yourself shine.

Now I’m off on my own  Leaving behind the life I had once known New beginnings and that’s why I stand here tall  And when I stand here calling I want the world to know I’m not falling  For all the tricks it plays and it will get to your head And when it seems like the path is wrong  Keep on walking you won’t have to play along Keep on moving I can say what I mean this time Let yourself shine.
