Thank you mr. chairperson. Bismillahirrahmanirahim. Assalamualaikum

warahmatullah hibawarakatuh. Yang Berhormat Tn Hj Mohammad Pehemi bin

Yusof, ADUN Kota Putera. Yang Berbahagia, Tn. Hj Ab Halim bin Hj Hassan. Officer

from PPD Besut, Yang Berbahagia Tn Hj Wan Zahari bin Wan Ali. Headmaster of

SK Tengku Mahmud, Tn Hj Mohamed bin Hassan. Yang Berusaha Haji Amlin, vice

president of PTA, PTA committee members, teachers and respected parents. I am

grateful to Allah SWT for with His permission we can gather here in this glorious

event in conjunction with PTA Annual Meeting of SK Tengku Mahmud. First and

foremost, I would like to express my gratitude towards YB for attending our event

today even though we know our YB is a very busy man. Furthermore, I would also

like to congratulate and thank all of you who are able to attend today’s event; which

reflect our determination and commitment in improving the excellence of our children

in the future.

Ladies and gentlemen,

“Bunga selasih di tapak tangan,

Dipetik orang harum mewangi,

Segunung kasih kami taburkan

Keprihatinan tuan dijunjungi tinggi.”

On behalf of PTA and its committee of SK Tengku Mahmud, I would like to

welcome the presence of YB Dato’ as well as all the parents and all the invited

guests to our event today. Indeed, the presence of Dato’ will surely boost our

enthusiasm and commitment to strive improving the performance of this school.

Moreover, the presence of respective parents indicate your support toward SK

Tengku Mahmud and is a stepping stone for the process of collaboration between

the schools and the local community. Let us join hands in responding to the

recommendations of our Prime Minister in realizing PPPM in preparation for the new

millennium in year 2020. I also would like to welcome the parents of our children who

took their time enliven our event today. Your commitment will give us confidence

especially in the course of our work. By God’s will, we can perform our duties

towards the children successfully.


To me, parents that present today are those who really expects excellence

and brilliance in their children because parents’ involvement is one of the driving

factors that helps motivate children to develop themselves in various fields. Not to

forget, on behalf of the school, I give my thanks and appreciation to YB who have

helped the school in terms of allocation of funds across the PTA contributions, moral

support, ideas and energy. Without the support and help from YB it is quite difficult

for our PTA committee and teachers to achieve what we wanted.


As the new PTA president of this school, I humbly plead to YB Dato’,

headmaster and parents to provide constructive criticism supposed that there are

mistakes while I was in charge. Let us join hands in catering to the whim of our

children while providing support and encouragement to our children here so that they

will always have confidence in themselves and always strive through the hardships

to excel in any fields. Do not be bored in providing our children with advices and

encouragement as indeed our children need them more than us; as parents and we

are more experienced. We also need to show a good example and become role

model to our children because for parents, we are the leader of our family and for

teachers, we are the leader in school. Appoint the slogan, “Lead by example” as our

motto.


Alhamdulillah, as time went on without us realizing, this school has reached

20 years of age this year. Even so, a lot of success and excellence have been

accomplished by the school either in academic or extra-curricular. The school’s

success and excellence reflects the success of the efforts of teachers in our schools

who never give up in educating our children. This success also reflects on our efforts

and prayers and strong cooperation among teachers and parents most of the time.

May we all be bless by Allah SWT.

Annual meeting is a mandatory agenda in educational calendar every year.

Today is the day long awaited by the parents to determine whether an agenda that

has been and will be implemented to help children in the school. In this meeting,

parents have the opportunity to give their views and ideas to help in any business

related to the school. PTA leaders considered as left wing in the school in helping to

implement the ideas and agendas. The active involvement of parents in the PTA will

be able to provide positive impact on the children in the school. Here I want to share

with you what are our aspirations for us, educators, in this school. We have set goals

that the school can achieve the goals whether in academic as well as extra-

curricular.


In academic, we are aiming to achieve the KPI that is initially set in terms of

average grade, pass percentage and numbers of students who manage to get all A’s

in UPSR 2015 and for the GPS we have targeted 2.10 this year. 2015 school

session a lot of challenges awaits and will be faced by the school and its community.

Among the problem that we are facing today is the achievement level certain

subjects such as Mathematics, Science and English; which is quite low.


Among the factors that cause the low student achievement in Mathematics is

they are not memorizing the multiplication tables. These tables should always be

memorized every day in order to facilitate their computation in mathematics,

especially in multiplications. Moreover, they are too lazy to do the exercises which

causes them to fail in mastering respective topics. In addition, students are not able

to deconstructing answering techniques which is they are weak in; causes them to

fail to get good result in Mathematics.

While in Science subject, the cause of students fail to achieve good results is

due to not knowing the facts. This is because they are not fond of reading and lack of

information related to science. Another weakness that has been identified is in doing

revision which the students are not doing so much especially at home. This has

cause them to fail to understand the syllabus. Fail in paying attention and focus

during the teaching and learning processes also one of the factors that contributes in

low students achievement in science.

In English subject, there are several factors that contribute to the failure of

students to master this particular subject. One of the factors is the attitude of

students who are not interested in the subject. They have this perception regarding

this subject saying that it is difficult to learn and not as important as other subjects.

Lack of writing exercises also cause them to fail to master the subject of English

language. Being shy to speak the language thus making them have less vocabulary

and fail to communicate well in English.


In attempt to achieve this excellence, PTA supports all efforts done by the

school in organizing various programmes and activities. To apprehend with these

problems, intervention must be done to improve students’ achievement in all

subjects. One of the intervention is by conducting extra classes. Despite the

constraints financially, PTA will try to look for funds and contributors from others to

help the school to improve students’ achievement in Mathematics, Science and

English.

In addition, the school will held an answering techniques camp for each subject to

sensitize students to answer well and get excellent result for each subject.

Professional facilitators consist of paper markers will be called to give exposure to

students.

The school will also be holding motivational camps to promote good values upon

students to strive harder in learning and get excellent result for every subject.

Experts will be called to give lectures and doing a wide range of activities that appeal

to students’ interest which helps them to work harder.

Moreover, schools will also hold “Solat Hajat” in intention to get guidance and asking

to simplify things for our students along the way in getting good result in their

studies. All parents will be called to attend to help making this program a success.

Next, the school will introduces a “Mentor-Mentee” program. Teachers will be

mentors providing guidance to students which are their mentees. During the

teachers’ spare time, they will call their mentees to give guidance which that have

been identified the problems faced by them.

To overcome these problems, the school will hold a workshop for parents.

Cooperation among parents and teachers can help to overcome problems in school.

Parents will become more aware of their children’s education. Furthermore, parents

will be taught about their children’s achievement and actions that should be taken to

facilitate the achievement of their children and to improve school’s performance.


I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the parents who paid extra

fees and give contributions for this year’s PTA. I learned that managing payments

and students registrations have running smoothly and PTA very appreciate for the

commitment to the school and parents involved. Hopefully this momentum will

continue onwards for the sake of our children in school.

Contributions made by the PTA in ensuring the success of all the activities

and programmes are mainly from contributions donated by us all in SKTM PTA fund.

For that I urge us parents not to take it lightly in making additional payments; which

generally knows as fees so that our PTA funds increases for us to organize various

activities and programs to help the excellence of our children.


PTA funds does not have any other sources except by donations from parents

and all of us. Thus I would like to urge all who present today, hand in hand, joining

efforts in collecting donations from any corporations that are willing to give

contributions. Our school humbly requesting financial provisions to cover the

activities and programmes from YB Dato’. If there are concerns from YB Dato’,

presumably donations can be made to SK Tengku Mahmud.

Last but not least, I apologize if I offended Dato’ as well as the audience today

during my speech. Before I end my speech, I want to express my gratitude to all

parties involved, especially to parents and teachers cooperating for the sake of the

success of all the children in the school. A huge thank to YB Mr. Hj. Mohammad

Pehimi bin Yusoff for spending his time here in the first PTA General Meeting of SK

Tengku Mahmud in 2015. Here, I end my speech, wabillali walhidayah
