Streszczenie

Artykuł ukazuje znaczenie pamięci we współczesnym dyskursie humanistycznym.

Znacząco wpływa ona na kształtowanie indywidualnej i zbiorowej tożsamości, na stosunek do

historii, a także na sposób opowiadania o świecie. Ten nurt myślenia nazwany jest rewanżem

pamięci.

W artykule opisano też, jak rewanż pamięci wpływa na zmiany w myśleniu o funkcjach

literatury niefikcjonalnej, a w szczególności reportażu literackiego. Tej refleksji służy analiza

książki Wojciecha Tochmana pt. Jakbyś kamień jadła. Reportażysta pokazuje walkę o pamięć

i walkę z pamięcią. Przywoływanie faktów jest dla niego tylko pretekstem do rozmyślań nad

istotą zła i nad modelem pamięci przez to zło ukształtowanym.

The mysteries of memory and evil in reportages by Wojciech Tochman

Abstract

This article demonstrates the significance of memory in the contemporary humanistic

discourse. Memory influences the shape of both, an individual and a group identity; it has an

impact on one’s approach towards history, and on a way of recounting the world. This trend

of thought is called the revenge of memory.

Moreover the article describes the way the revenge of memory has influenced changes in

perception of non-fiction literature duties, reportage in particular. The foregoing reflection is

supported by an analysis of the book Like Eating a Stone by Wojciech Tochman. The author

presented there a struggle for memory and against memory. His references to the factual

events are an excuse for contemplation about the essence of evil and the structure of memory

shaped by evil.
