Twice is Nice Resale Store: A WELS Triple Play

Help root for a home team! Did you know that Twice is Nice Resale in Jefferson is run and operated by volunteer WELS members just like you? Think about taking a swing in one or more of these three ways: Donate: Looking to clean out this fall? Twice is Nice is pleased to accept your

donations of resalable items. The only items they cannot accept are TVs, monitors, console pianos/stereos/sewing machines, mattresses/box springs, organs and paint. Come to the rear of the building from 9-4:30 pm and ring the doorbell! Donation receipts are available.

Shop: September is the first full month of fall and winter merchandise, so selection is especially great right now! And did you know? TiN runs 50% off sales at the end of every month! For example, all yellow-tagged items were 50% off from August 25-31. What color will the 50% off tags be in September? Shop and find out! We’re easy-to-find: just a minute east on the Hwy 18 exit off the 26 bypass at 907 W. Racine St., next to the Piggly Wiggly.

Volunteer: Catch the fever of a Twice is Nice volunteer—whether it once a month or once a week, whether it’s taking care of a department, fixing items or clerking, we have a fun, productive opportunity for you to make a real difference for Lakeside Lutheran and other ministries. No expertise needed, and you’ll get all the training you need! Call 920-674-6868 with questions. We welcomed Jake Horta, an LLHS sophomore from St. Peter, Helenville, as a recent new volunteer. Pray about the opportunity with a friend!

Our Practice of Close Communion

We believe from Acts 2:42 and 1 Corinthians 10:16-17 that Holy Communion is the highest expression of our fellowship with Jesus and with each other, and that God intends the sacrament to be celebrated together by Christians who accept all the teachings of the Bible. If you are a guest and are not yet a member of the WELS/ELS fellowship, we invite you to learn more about us and, most of all, about the Savior whom God has sent. Then join with us at his communion table. To learn more about our faith and fellowship, speak with Pastor Brauer or Pastor Yahnke.

Personal preparation for Holy Communion can be found on page 156 in front of the hymnal.

Communion in Front Rows If you are unable to walk up to the rail for Communion, you may be seated in one of the

front pews during the service. The pastors and elder will come down to the front pews to distribute Communion.

New Member Today in the 8:00 service we officially welcome into our congregation Patrick O’Marrah,

who recently completed the member Bible class. We welcome him as a brother in Christ!

Summer Bible Class We are offering a Bible class during the summer months. The topic is the Ten

Commandments, which instruct us in holy living to show our love for Christ, who loved us first. The next Tuesday Class will be on August 22 and will cover the Eighth Commandment. The next Thursday class will be August 24 and will cover the Ninth and Tenth Commandment.

Centennial Offering – Thanks be to God! Thanks be to God for the generous gifts given during this past year. Our Pakistan

Sunday School Fund has reached its goal and the money has been sent to the WELS World Mission office, designated for the Pakistan Sunday School. Thank you letters and pictures of the Sunday School children can be found on the Pakistan poster in the Fireside Room.

The 100th Anniversary Debt Reduction Fund reached 80% of the goal of $87,650. During the course of the year $26,627 was used to pay back member loans. The remainder, $45,148, will be used to pay down the mortgage we have with Thrivent.

The church council would like to see if we can raise another $4,850. If we can pay $50,000 on the mortgage, the monthly payment will be re-amortized at a savings of $845 a month. Special centennial offering envelopes are available in the Fireside Room or indicate on your offering envelope the amount given to the 100th Anniversary Debt Reduction Fund.

Pioneer News Is your child interested in becoming a Pioneer? What's a Pioneer? A Pioneer is someone

who likes to learn something new! Would you like your child to learn new skills and have fun with their friends while hearing God's Word too? If so, then Pioneers might be for your child(ren)! Your Pioneer group is open to all children in Kindergarten-Grade 8 (public or private school), both girls and boys. If you'd like to find out more about the program, PLEASE join us for our first meeting on September 5, 6:30-8 pm, at the St.Luke's Clark Street school commons area. We will be starting the year off with a BANG! We will be making our own paper rockets and launching them into the sky, plus refreshments and God's Word. God has truly blessed this Pioneer program and we are passing the blessings onto its members. This year’s membership fee is only $10, half the cost in the past. We are going to have a BLAST of a year, so join us on September 5!

The ECE Committee Would Like Your Input!

Over the past weeks the Early Childhood Committee (Principal Jim Moeller, TSL teachers Michelle Wegner and Aubrey Hayes, Trinity member Steve Strucely, St. Luke’s member Rich Parkhurst, Pastor Dustin Yahnke) have been meeting to prepare a survey on future ECE needs and plans. We very much would like input from our congregational members! To that end we would would invite our Trinity and St. Luke’s members to participate in a short survey.

The survey is short and easy to take. It will be completed electronically using Survey Monkey. You can access the survey one of several ways. On your personal electronic device or computer/laptop type in the address www.tinyurl.com/tsl-ece which will take you to the survey.

A second way is to scan the following logo into your phone and then take the survey:

For those who do not have electronic devices we will have kiosks in the narthexes of both congregations on the following Sundays – August 27, September 3, and September 10. Members of the committee will be there to give assistance in completing the survey.

The survey is now open and will be available through Sunday, September 10. We encourage all members of our supporting congregations to compete the survey so we can receive your input as we plan for the future of an expanded ECE program at TSL.

We will also be surveying past, present, and future families in our ECE program on the types of services they would like to have in an ECE program. These surveys will take place face-to-face. If your family is selected we look forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas.
