The hot spring or onsen culture has became the everyday life of the Japanese people not just for bathing but for other purposes too. Aso, one of the most famous active volcanoes in Japan. Lunch en-route. Upon arrival, visit Takachiho Gorge and Takachiho Shrine. The gorge is a narrow chasm cut through the rock by the Gokase River. The nearly sheer cliffs lining the gorge are made of slow forming volcanic basalt columns which resemble the scales of a dragon where the stone twisted and flowed as it formed. The inner grounds will be closed to the public indefinitely until further notice. However, it is possible to look at the massive fortress from the outside. The city hopes to repair the main structure within three years, while the rest of the grounds are expected to require about 20 years to be fully repaired.) Next visit Josaien Shopping Street followed by lunch at local restaurant. After lunch, visit Suizenji Jojuen Park, a traditional Japanese Garden landscaped around a natural spring pond. The area was originally the site of Suizenji temple, constructed in 1632 by Lord Hosokawa Tadatoshi of Kumamoto. Following its closure, the third Lord Hosokawa Tsunatoshi built a garden on the site and named it ?Jojuen?. Constructed in the ?Momoyama style?, the garden recreates celebrated waterways and mountain landscape from the ?Tokai line?, one of the major travel route during the Edo Era. The beauty of this garden is not to be missed. Then transfer to Amakusa via ?Five Bridges of Amakusa? , these are five road bridges at the south tip of Japan, linking the Kyushu mainland (Kumamoto Prefecture) and the Amakusa Islands. The bridges connect to the islands of Ooyano-jima, Nagaura-jima, Ike-jima, and Maeshima, and were completed on September 24, 1966. Upon arrival, check in hotel. Deluxe set dinner or similar in hotel.
