PowerPoint 2010 is not a tool for creating charts. We are creating and editing charts in Excel 2010, which starts automatically when you run the chart.

On the Title and Content slides, Two Contents, Comparison, or Content with Caption, you create a chart, clicking the chart button.

After inserting a new chart, the monitor is divided into two halves. PowerPoint is running in the left half, Excel is running in the right one.

Click to modify the data displayed in the window of Excel and overwrite the values in each cell.

Range of table with the data is bounded by a blue line. Cells outside the border of the chart do not have any influence. Write the next value into the column next to the borders or below the borders, click Enter and the border moves.

Basic chart editing will be shown as an example again. We will create a chart again, according to the table. Now we will create a chart column and edit it:◦ Change the name ◦ Describe the axis◦ Expose the data labels

Use the Chart Tools. In the picture we can

see two variants.

The description shall be carried out using the functions in the Labels group, which is on the sub-tab the Layout tab in the Chart Tools.

Tags are used to describe a chart, and enhance its clarity.

The Axis function allows you to add, remove, or edit the axis formats of the chart.

The Grid function allows you to add or remove chart gridlines.

Both buttons are located in the group Axis, that is located on the sub-tab Layout in the Tools tab of the chart.

The appearance of the chart can be changed after its creation. To avoid the need to carry out a lot of manual formatting, Microsoft Office Excel provides a variety of predefined quick layouts and quick styles, which you can use in your chart.

You can then edit the chart using small changes in the layout and formatting style of its individual elements.
