Volgens Susan Daniëls, wat die ongelukgesien gebeur het, het haàr kind, Jayden, ennog ander kinders voor die huis gestaan enmusiek luister toe die motor met ’n grootspoed op hul afkom. Die kinders het toe vin-nig uit die pad geskarrel, maar Jayden, watop sy fiets gesit het,was egternie so gelukkignie.

Die radiostasie sal in Kuilsrivier geleëwees en die Hoër Tegniese Skool Kuilsrivieris reeds deel van een van die programmewataangebied gaan word. Die radiostasie spogook reeds met meer as 4 000 luisteraars regoor die wêreld.

Hierdie projek sal nie net help ommisdaaden bendegeweld te bekamp nie, maar ook omdie jeug en volwassenes se denke te veranderen mense daarvan bewus te maak dat daarwel iets goeds uit arm gemeenskappe kankom, sê die organiseerders.

Twigg sê: “Ouers kan hul talentvolle kin-ders bring, wat nog nooit vantevore gehooris nie, en saamkan ons ’n verandering in onsmooie Kaapstad bring.”

The jazzy Jive of Jazz on the Lawn is backin the groove for the end of the month.

One of the biggest musical highlights forthe area is back this year after building upa reputation of great entertainment for thefour years that it was presented.

This event has becomean extension of theGenerations Cafe in Epping, or The G-Spotas it is more popularly known, with someof the best entertainers in the industry per-forming whilst also creating a platform foremerging and aspiring artists.

The annual 12-hour music marathon forthis year will be staged at its regular spoton Bevcan Sports Field in Epping on Satur-day 30 November from 10:00 to 22:00 withlive bands and DJs performing in non-stoprelay format. Gates open at 09:00.

Olyn vertel dat sy ’n dop ingehadhet toe sy die polisie in die pad voor-gekeer het, omdat haar eks haarfoon by haar afgeneem het. Haar eksse ma het toe na die polisie aange-loop gekom en vir hulle gesê dat sy’n vredesbrief teen Olyn het.

Dis toe dat hulle haar sonder eni-ge waarskuwing met kind en al indie vangwa gelaai het. Sy sê hart-seer: “My kind was nat, dors en hon-ger. Sy bottel was al leeg, maar hullewou hom nie eers ’n bietjie watergee nie. Een van die ander gevange-nes het toe maar vir hom ’n stukkiebrood gegee wat sy in haar sak ge-had het.”

nadat hulle haar vrygelaat het, ’nklag teen die polisie indien, omdathulle haar glo sonder enige rede toe-gesluit het. Niemand wou haar egterhelp nie. Een van die beamptes heteerder gesê: “Sy wil nogals ’n saakteen my kollegas maak,” het Olyngesê.

Sy sê dat sy die hele tyd daar ge-wag het en vir hulle gevra het omnet vir haar die name te gee van diepersone wat daardie aand aan dienswas. Steeds wou niemand haar helpnie. Sy is toe maar daar weg.

Olyn sê asof dit nie alreeds erg ge-

noeg was dat hulle haar toegesluithet nie, het haar ouma ’n lasbriefoók nog aan haar oorhandig toe syeen aand van die werk gekom het.

Dié brief is glo deur ’n ene lt. kol.Jacobs afgelewer. Op die brief staandat die polisie ’n klag van intimida-sie teen Olyn aanhangig gemaakhet.

Wat dinge nog vererger, is dat diedatum op die lasbrief al in Augustusgedateer is. “Ek weet regtig niemeer wat nou aangaan nie. Dit lyknou asof hulle alles op my wil bla-meer,” het ’n moedelose Olyn gesê.

Volgens kapt. Nomathemba Mu-avha van Mfuleni-polisie dra hulle

nie kennis van die lasbrief nie.

dat daar ’n klag of enige lasbrief teenOlyn gedurende daardie tydperkuitgereik is nie. As sy enige bystandnodig het, is sy meer as welkom ommet die stasiebevelvoerder te gesels.Ons neem hierdie sake baie ernstigop.”

Compensation of R42 million will be paidout to fee-paying schools in the WesternCape to recompense schools for fee exemp-tions granted to learners this year.

Minister for Education in the WesternCape, Donald Grant, made this announce-ment on Thursday, saying that this movewill benefit schools that are struggling withthe cost of exemptions due to parents whocannot afford school fees.

“We live in a tough economic environ-ment wherein many more parents simplycannot afford to pay their school fees, andthis ultimately places a burden on the man-

agement of the school. This is evident in thenumber of learners applying for fee exemp-tion,” Grant said.

According to him the number of learnersapplying for fee exemption has increasedfrom 48 974 learners in 2010 to 70 153 in 2011and 90 506 at 783 fee-paying schools in 2012.

Parents qualify for exemption if the feesare more than 10 % of the parents’ com-bined annual salary. They can apply for par-tial exemption if the fees represent between2 % and 10 % of their annual salary depend-ing on the number of children they have ata fee-paying, public school.

in Cape Town, they got the KFCMini-Crick-et kids back into the series after the Proteaswon the first two matches of the sevenmatch series.All this excitement took place at the

school because local resident Lana Knipewas the second winner in the KFC Mini-Cricket Kids vs Proteas Tour competition.Entering on behalf of her friend, Wilma

Jones, whose son Jesse attends the school,they encouraged all their friends and familyto enter the competition to increase theirchances of winning, and the scene was setfor an exciting game.Winning the toss and electing to field, the
