Match backgroundFC København visit Club Brugge KV on matchday six with their hopes of qualification for the round of 16 still alive.

• Their 0-0 home draw with FC Porto on matchday five leaves the Danish title holders needing both a victory atBrugge and for Porto to drop points at home to Leicester City FC in the other Group G fixture. If the sides finishedlevel on points, FCK's superior head-to-head record would take them through.

• As for a Club Brugge side resigned to finishing bottom, their only incentive is to avoid the ignominy of finishing thegroup stage without a single point to their name.

• This match pits two players against their former teams, with Tom Høgli returning to his old club Club Brugge, andClaudemir welcoming his erstwhile colleagues from København.

Previous meetings• FCK were 4-0 winners over Club Brugge on 27 September and have a strong head-to-head record against theBelgian club: W3 D2 L1.

• The Danish club have not lost in three previous visits to Bruges, starting with a 1-0 win in the 2008/09 UEFA Cupgroup stage, César Santin the scorer.

• Santin hit a 95th-minute winner when København won 3-2 on their next visit in the second leg of a 2012/13 UEFAChampions League third qualifying round tie (aggregate 3-2). Andreas Cornelius and Lior Refaelov are the onlysurvivors of that second-leg contest in Bruges, although Claudemir was in the FCK starting XI and Høgli on theBrugge bench.

• Their third encounter in Belgium was a 1-1 draw in the 2014/15 UEFA Europa League group stage when DanielAmartey's 89th-minute goal was cancelled out by Víctor Vázquez (90+2). Club Brugge won the return fixture 4-0 inCopenhagen through goals by Refaelov (three) and Ruud Vormer.

• The line-ups for that most recent meeting in Bruges on 23 October 2014 were:Brugge: Ryan, De Fauw, Mechele, Duarte, De Bock, Silva (Izquierdo 79), Simons, Vázquez, Gedoz, Castillo (DeSutter 69), Sobota (Refaelov 56).København: Andersen, Høgli, M Jørgensen, Antonsson, Amankwaa (Claudemir 81), Delaney, Amartey, Kačaniklić(Gíslason 64), Cornelius, N Jørgensen (De Ridder 68).

Match backgroundClub Brugge• With GNK Dinamo Zagreb, the Belgian champions are one of only two teams in the competition with no points afterfive games.

• With five straight defeats in Group G, Michel Preud'homme's men have endured their club's worst losing streak in aEuropean campaign.

• Brugge have lost five of their last six European home fixtures (W1 L5).

• In the 2015/16 UEFA Europa League, Club Brugge lost 3-1 at home to FC Midtjylland and earned a 1-1 draw awaythanks to Jelle Vossen's strike.

• Club Brugge's overall home record against clubs from Denmark is W3 D2 L3.

København• Ståle Solbakken's men retain an outside chance of repeating their 2010/11 UEFA Champions League performancewhen they reached the round of 16 for the only previous time.

• Including the qualifying rounds, FCK have lost only one of five European away games this season – the 1-0 defeat atgroup winners Leicester on matchday three.

• Their overall record in Belgium is W2 D1 L1.

Coach and player links• With Norway's national team, Solbakken appeared in a 2-0 home friendly loss to Belgium in April 2000.

• Preud'homme was in the Belgium side beaten 3-1 by Denmark in Odense in a June 1988 friendly.

• Høgli made 76 league appearances for Club Brugge, scoring one goal, between 2011 and 2014, having joined fromNorwegian club Tromsö IL.

• Claudemir made 131 Danish Super League appearances for København, scoring ten goals, between 2010 and2014. He won two league titles and the 2012 Danish Cup, scoring the only goal in the final victory over AC Horsens atParken Stadium.

Head coachMichel Preud'hommeDate of birth: 24 January 1959Nationality: BelgianPlaying career: R. Standard de Liège, KV Mechelen, SL BenficaCoaching career: R. Standard de Liège (twice), KAA Gent, FC Twente, Al-Shabab FC, Club Brugge KV

• Won two league titles and lost 1982 European Cup Winners' Cup final to FC Barcelona with Standard. Won thecompetition six years later having moved on to Mechelen in 1986 – still the last UEFA competition won by a Belgianclub.

• Signed for Benfica in 1994 and excelled at that year's FIFA World Cup finals – his second – winning the UEFAGoalkeeper of the Year and the IFFHS Best Goalkeeper awards as a result. Retired in 1999, aged 40, after 58 capsfor Belgium.

• Became Benfica's technical director but within a year had been appointed head coach at Standard. In 2002 hebecame the club's technical director and chairman of the Belgian Football Association's technical committee.

• In 2006 he succeeded Johan Boskamp as Standard coach and brought the club a first league title in 25 years in2008, cementing his popularity in Liege. Unexpectedly joined Gent and success came in his second season again,Gent winning the 2010 Belgian Cup and finishing second in the league.

• Again opted to move on, replacing Steve McClaren at Dutch champions Twente, losing the league title to AFC Ajaxbut beating the Amsterdam club in the cup final. After a short stint in Saudi Arabia with Al-Shabab, returned home withClub Brugge in 2013, winning the Belgian Cup final in 2015 and reaching another final 12 months later; lost that butconsiderable consolation came with the club's first league title in 11 years.

Ståle SolbakkenDate of birth: 27 February 1968Nationality: Norwegian Playing career: Grue IL, Ham-Kam Fotball, Lillestrøm SK, Wimbledon FC, Aalborg BK, FC København Coaching career: Ham-Kam Fotball, FC København (twice), 1. FC Köln, Wolverhampton Wanderers FC

• Discovered at lower-league Grue, Solbakken represented Ham-Kam but made his mark as one of Norway's finestmidfielders at Lillestrøm between 1994 and 1997, earning the first of his 58 caps for Norway before an ill-starred moveto English side Wimbledon.

• A five-month Premier League spell ended with a switch to Denmark's AaB in 1998, where he got his career back ontrack, starring in the 1998/99 title success. He represented Norway at the 1998 FIFA World Cup and UEFA EURO2000 prior to joining København for 2000/01.

• His København playing career lasted just 14 league games before Solbakken suffered a heart attack in training on13 March 2001; he was revived in an ambulance 12 minutes later.

• With a pacemaker fitted he went into coaching with Ham-Kam before unexpectedly being named as Hans Backe'ssuccessor at København in 2005 by club chairman Flemming Østergaard, who has Solbakken's playing shirt hangingin his office.

• The first of five title successes in his first season vindicated the decision, Solbakken also leading the club to the2006/07 and 2010/11 UEFA Champions League group stage – reaching the round of 16 in the latter campaign – andthe 2008/09 Danish Cup. After short, unsuccessful spells at Köln and Wolves, returned to København in August 2013following Ariël Jacobs' dismissal and won the Danish league and cup double in 2016.

Dynamo Kyiv (1999/2000), Borussia Dortmund (2002/03 – bothsecond group stage), PSV Eindhoven (2003/04), Olympiacos and Dynamo Kyiv (both 2004/05), Werder Bremen(2006/07), Manchester City (2011/12), Chelsea and CFR 1907 Cluj (both 2012/13), Benfica (2013/14) and FC Porto(2015/16) all missed out with ten points.

• Only two teams have ever won the UEFA Champions League on home soil: Borussia Dortmund (1997, final inMunich) and Juventus (1996, final in Rome), while Manchester United lost the 2011 final in London and 12 monthslater Bayern were beaten in the showpiece in their own stadium, the Fußball Arena München.
