Початок вшанування Богородиці Діви Марії сягає початку людського роду. Щоправда тоді лише уявляли, що колись буде така особа, через яку прийде Месія на землю. Ми є свідками і учасниками Спасительної цієї місії. Отож, коли після упадку прародичів, упадку людства, були сказані слова Господом Богом: “Я покладу ворожнечу між Тобою і жінкою і між Твоїм потомством та її потомством”, тоді ті слова сказані до змія-диявола, спокусника Єви й Адама, вже тоді давали надію цілому людству на спасіння, що здійснилося через найсвятішу жінку – пречисту Діву Марію, Богородицю, переможницю змія-диявола у всіх людських душах, котрі повірять в Її сина Ісуса Христа як свого Спасителя. Спасаюча дія жінки над всіма жінками, не завершилась лише із народженням Месії і допомогою в Його служінні, але мало продовження ще й після Голгофи. Бачивши Ісус Матір і біля Неї учня, що стояв, – а його ж любив Він, – мовить до Матері: «Жінко, ось син Твій». А тоді й до учня мовить: «Ось матір твоя». І від тієї хвилі учень узяв її до себе. Йо. 19, 25-27 Ці слова нашого Спасителя були звернені до “учня”. Ми є також учнями Христа, отож звернені й до нас. Вони закликають кожного християнина стати сином/дочкою Матері Божої. Марія опікувалася учнями і була з ними. Так і ми можемо прибігати до Неї в скорботах і радощах, призивати її на поміч у всіх немочах і тривогах, ділитися радостями і успіхами. Вона подасть нам утішення, захист, підтримку і буде нашою Заступницею перед Всевишнім.

PRAYER FOR MOTHERS

Loving God, we thank you for the love of the mothers you have

given us, whose love is so precious that it can never be measured,

whose patience seems to have no end. May we see your loving

hand behind them and guiding them. We ask you to bless them

with your own special love. Mary, Mother of God and our Mother,

pray for all mothers, that they may fulfill their maternal

responsibilities. Help us love, sustain and care for each human life

from the moment of conception until death. Let them be a good

example to their children. Mother of God, pray for our children, so

that they may be faithful followers of your Son Jesus. Grant this through the mercies and love

for mankind of your only-begotten Son with whom you are blessed, together with your allholy,

good and life-giving Spirit, now and for ever and ever. Amen.

ГОСПОДНЄ ВОЗНЕСЕННЯ

Празник Господнього Вознесення завжди припадає у четвер на сороковий день після

Христового Воскресення. Це один з великих Господських празників і має дев'ятиденне

попразденство. Він звеличує подію Христового Вознесення на небо та підкреслює її

значення для Христа і для нас. Святий Йоан Золотоустий у своїй проповіді на

Вознесення каже: "Сьогодні людський рід совершенно примирений з Богом. Зникла

давня боротьба й ворожнеча. Ми, що були недостойні жити й на землі, вознесені на

небо. Сьогодні стаємо наслідниками небесного царства, ми, що не вартуємо й

земного, виходимо на небо й унасліджуємо престол Царя і Господа. А людська

природа, перед якою херувим боронив рай, піднесена тепер понад усякого херувима".

У пам'ятках трьох перших сторіч нічого не сказано про цей празник. Не згадує про нього

й письменник Ориген († к. 251), який перераховує християнські празники у восьмій

книзі свого твору Проти Цельсія. Знавці обряду вважають, що в перших трьох віках

цей празник святкували разом з празником Зіслання Святого Духа. Сильвія

Аквітанська не називає цей празник Вознесенням, а тільки "сороковим днем після

Пасхи".

У IV столітті празник Господнього Вознесення стає загальновизнаним. Історик Сократ

(† к. 440) називає його "всенародним празником" (Історія Церкви, 7, 26).

Празник Вознесення звеличили своїми проповідями святий Йоан Золотоустий, святий

Григорій Ниський, святий Епіфаній Кипрський, Лев Великий й инші. У IV столітті цариця

Єлена поставила храм в честь цього празника на місці Христового Вознесення.

Дух богослужень цього празника в загальному бадьорий і радісний. Свята Церква

радіє славою Христа-Богочоловіка, що засів по правиці Отця. Він вознісся на небо,

щоб зіслати нам Утішителя — Святого Духа та щоб, як Він сам каже: "приготовити нам

місце" (Йо. 14, 2). "Господь вознісся на небо, — співаємо в першій стихирі на великій

вечірні Вознесення, — щоб зіслати Утішителя світові. Небо приготувало престол його,

а хмари — вознесення Його. Ангели дивуються, бачачи чоловіка понад собою. Отець

чекає на Того, що Його від віків держить у своєму лоні. А Святий Дух каже всім ангелам

Його: "Візьміть, князі, ворота ваші; всі народи плескайте руками, бо вийшов Христос

там, де був перед тим".

THE FEAST OF THE ASCENSION OF OUR LORD

The Feast of the Ascension of our Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ is celebrated each year on the fortieth day after the Great and Holy Feast of Pascha (Easter). Since the date of Pascha changes each year, the date of the Feast of the Ascension changes. The Feast

is always celebrated on a Thursday. The Feast itself commemorates when, on the fortieth day after His Resurrection, Jesus led His disciples to the Mount of Olives, and after blessing them and asking them to wait for the fulfillment of the promise of the Holy Spirit, He ascended into heaven.

BIBLICAL STORY

The story of the Ascension of our Lord, celebrated as one of the Twelve Great Feasts of the Church, is found in the book of the Acts of the Apostles 1:3-11. It is also mentioned in the Gospels of Mark (16:19) and Luke (24:50-53). The moment of the Ascension is told in one sentence: "He was lifted up before their eyes in a cloud which took Him from their sight" (Acts 1:9). Christ made His last appearance on earth, forty days after His Resurrection from the dead. The Acts of the Apostles states that the disciples were in Jerusalem. Jesus appeared before them and commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the "Promise of the Father". He stated, "You shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now" (Acts 1:5). After Jesus gave these instructions, He led the disciples to the Mount of Olives. Here, He commissioned them to be His witnesses "in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth" (Acts 1:8). It is also at this time that the disciples were directed by Christ to "go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit" (Matthew 28:19). Jesus also told them that He would be with them always, "even to the end of the world" (Matthew 28:20). As the disciples watched, Jesus lifted up His hands, blessed them, and then was taken up out of their sight (Luke 24:51; Acts 1:9). Two angels appeared to them and asked them why they were gazing into heaven. Then one of the angels said, "This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as you have seen Him going into heaven" (Acts 1:11).

Лише той, хто віддає все своє життя Господу Богу може зрозуміти, для чого він покликаний у цьому світі», – сказав ювіляр. «Тому сьогодні дякую Господу Богу за дар, – сказав Блаженніший Святослав, – який хочу Йому назад віддавати кожного дня. Щоб кожного дня глибше розуміти і сповняти той

задум, який мій Творець записав у тому дарі життя. Хочу подякувати всім тим, які в цей день згадали про Бога, який є джерелом кожного вашого життя, і звернулися до Нього у словах молитви. Хочу подякувати, що можливо в тій молитві до Бога згадали і про мене грішного». Подякував ювіляр і всім владикам УГКЦ. «Дякую владикам з цілого світу, які сьогодні в катедральних храмах разом з нами моляться. Дякую владиці Йосифу за Боже слово. Дякую вам за щоденну співпрацю. Тому що ми є синодальною Церквою. Церквою, яка може зрозуміти завдання, яке ми маємо сповнити для добра нашого народу лише тоді, коли будемо сповняти і шукати разом. Тому дякую за те, що ми вміємо бути разом, разом молитися, разом працювати, підтримувати один одного, а головне разом один за одного молитися», – відзначив Предстоятель. Подякував усім священикам, які в цей день молилися разом з ним, також сестрам монахиням та патріаршому хорові. Подякував і всім вірним, які в цей день теж пам'ятають про Бога і про ближнього і що молилися сьогодні онлайн. Та особливо ювіляр подякував своїм батькам. «Своїй мамі Вірі і своєму татові Юрієві. Вони в цих днях переживають особливі моменти, особливі переживання, але нехай сьогоднішній день теж буде і для них радістю подяки сина за те, що вони від Господа Бога прийняли дар життя», – сказав Глава Церкви. The Head of the UGCC on his 50th birthday: Today is a special day for me to thank God for the gift of life

“Today is a special day for me to thank God for the gift of life. Each of us can understand the meaning of our life only when we give it back to the One who is its source,” said the Primate. “I want to thank all of you who mentioned God on this day, and turned to Him with prayer. Thank you that maybe in that prayer to God you also mentioned me as a sinner," said His Beatitude Sviatoslav. The Head of the Church also thanked all the bishops of the UGCC. "I thank the bishops from all over the world who are praying with us in the cathedrals today. Thank you, Bishop Josyf (Milian – Ed.), for God's word. Thank you for your daily cooperation. Because we are a Synodal Church. A church that can understand the task we have to fulfill for the good of our people only when we seek it together. Therefore, I thank you for the fact that we know how to work together, support each other, and, most importantly, pray together for each other,” said the Primate. His Beatitude Sviatoslav: I ask God to help fulfill the mission entrusted to me, leaving nothing to myself.

Tuesday, 05 May 2020, 11:07 In an exclusive interview for “Zhyve Television,” His Beatitude Sviatoslav, Head and Father of the UGCC, shared his thoughts on the past years and expressed hope for the future. The patriarch recalls the past with gratitude and in the ministry of the Head of the Church he sees an opportunity to repay those gifts that were once entrusted to him by God, his family, the Church.

Answering the questions of the journalist of "Zhyve TV," His Beatitude Sviatoslav noted: "I can say that in those fifty years there was a lot of life. And I want to thank the Lord God for all the active waves of life, the moments that He has given me to this day."

The Head of the UGCC shared with his interlocutor the feeling that he has always been "in a hurry to live," because at a young age he took on many duties and responsibilities. “I have always had a feeling that the Lord God has given me a certain credit - whether it is certain opportunities, or the people He has placed around me, or gifts or abilities, which, ultimately, every person has,” said Head of the UGCC.

He said he felt most of the credit of trust shown to him by the people who had always been there, his parents and relatives: "They gave me the feeling and understanding that they trusted me." However, the greatest gift that the Primate of the UGCC has received in his life is faith in God. "This is a gift I received in my family, from my parents, from my grandmother and my grandfather," said His Beatitude, adding that, like the Apostle Paul, he felt indebted to those people who may still not believe in God.

In an interview, the Primate also mentioned with special gratitude the opportunity to study abroad. He spoke of his great thirst for knowledge, especially theological one, which, in his opinion, was caused by the circumstances of the persecuted Church: “When it became possible to study, I always did it with the idea that I was studying for someone, not for myself. “I remember,” His Beatitude Sviatoslav recalled, “that in the 1990s, there were many seminarians, many young men and women who wanted to give their lives to God but not all of them could study abroad.”

The ministry of the Primate of the Church is an opportunity for His Beatitude Sviatoslav to return this credit of trust: "I have been repaying my debts for almost ten years, trying to share what the Lord God has given me, and I do not want to let anyone down in his/her expectations."

In addition, the Head of the UGCC expressed the hope that the Lord would give him the strength to share all the gifts he had received during his 50 years of life: “I ask God to help me fulfill the mission of my life without leaving anything either in my pockets or in my heart, but to give back everything I received," said His Beatitude Sviatoslav.
