The report will inform the discussions in the UN ESCAP Intergovernmental Meeting (IGM) on HIV/AIDS, January 28-30, 2015, in Bangkok, Thailand.

Survey on civil society organizations perspectives on progress in achieving universal access to HIV prevention, treatment, care and support in Asia and the PacificThe Asia-Pacific Intergovernmental Meeting on HIV and AIDS will be convened by ESCAP in cooperation with UNAIDS, UNDP, UNESCO and UNFPA and other relevant United Nations entities from 28 to 30 January 2015 in Bangkok.

The Intergovernmental Meeting will set the agenda for regional cooperation to implement the recommendations arising from national reviews and consultations on legal and policy barriers to universal access to HIV prevention, treatment, care and support, and the regional overview of the progress in meeting the commitments in the 2011 Political Declaration on HIV and AIDS: Intensifying Our Efforts to Eliminate HIV and AIDS, and ESCAP resolutions 66/10 and 67/9.

The outcomes of the Intergovernmental Meeting will serve as one of the regional inputs to the global review of progress in achieving the Millennium Development Goals to be undertaken by the General Assembly in 2015, and a regional input on HIV and AIDS for the development agenda beyond 2015.Mandate for participatory preparatory processIn its resolution 65/277 adopting the Political Declaration on HIV and AIDS: Intensifying Our Efforts to Eliminate HIV and AIDS, the General Assembly, among other things, committed to continue engaging people living with and affected by HIV in decision-making and planning, implementing and evaluating the response.
