INTRODUCTION
All praises and thanks are due to Allah, the Lord of the worlds, and peace and blessings be
upon our beloved Prophet Muhammed (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص), his family and his companions.
May Allah reward you and bless you on your journey to learn Arabic, the language of Quran. This unique course is focused on the Arabic of your daily Salah. In just 19 lessons you will learn to understand all the Arabic you use in your daily Salah and 50% words of the Quran.
In just 19 short course you will learn following:
Surah Al-Fatiha & additional six selected surahs of the Quran: Al-Kafirron, Al-Asr, An-Nasr, Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq, Al-Naas.
Arabic of all parts of Salah (prayer) including: Adhan, dua related to Wudu, Iqamah, dua
at beginning of prayer, ruku, sujud, Tahsahud, prayers upon the Prophet (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص), Dua at
the end of salah and much more.
Basic necessary Grammar using TPI. You will learn:
o How to make singular words into plurals, masculine and feminine.
o You will learn attached and detached pronouns.
o How to easily attach pronouns to Isms (nouns), Fa’il (verbs), and Harf (prepositions), as well as understand their meanings. The attached forms you will run occur in the Quran more than 10,000 times.
o You will learn how or quickly conjugate past tense, present / future tense, command, negation and much more.
o You will learn how to conjugate verbs in Arabic. From one root word you will learn to make 30 forms of the word.
Much much more
You will learn to teach this course
Plus our exclusive, unique iman boosting lessons in each part.
This book is not intended solely as a book of self-study. Our course is highly interactive students do not need to write any notes, this book Insha’Allah will provide all the necessary notes to learn all the course content.
For each lesson, you will find two exercises in the workbook:
(i) Questions related to the main lesson (Qur’an verses and parts of Salah) and
(ii) Questions related to Grammar.
Please complete the exercises, by writing the answers down. Recalling what has been learnt by writing is an important part of the learning process.

Remember amongst the first ayah revealed by Allah (swt) to our beloved Prophet (sas)
م بالقلم م النسان ما لم يعلم {4}الذي عل {5} عل Who taught by the Pen (4) taught Man that he knew not (5)
[Al-Quran Sura Alaq: 4-5]
Allah teaches us by the use of pen, that which we do not know, so make effective use of the pen.
Other course materials such as audio (MP3); poster; vocabulary sheets; are also to be used as advised by the course tutor. These can be all obtained from the Understand Quran Academy website.
Pre-requisite:
No previous knowledge of Arabic language is required. As long as you have the basic Quran
reading skills, and know how to perform your daily Salah, you can easily do this course.
If you can read the Arabic above, you can do this course
Some brief guidelines about our course:
Please follow the instructions of the tutor, do exactly as instructed. This is NOT like any other course you may have done; it is unique and very effective.
This is a thoroughly interactive course therefore take active part in the lessons, this will help you learn quicker.
Mistakes are a natural part of learning, there is no problem if you make mistakes. Nobody learns without making mistakes. Think of the way a child learns. The more you practice the more you will learn, if you make mistakes, simply review what you learn and carry on from there.
There are 3 approaches to learning:
o Listening without paying attention: you hear only noise, and gain no benefit.
o Listening carelessly or with doubt. Gives Shaitaan opportunity to create doubts about your ability; distract you with stray thoughts; and occupy you with meaningless tasks. Remember he does not want you to learn Qur’an. So do not give him any chances, remove all doubts, and have absolute trust in Allah.
o Listening intently with your HEART: participating in lessons, and responding
positively. This how the ‘companions’ of our beloved Prophet (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) learnt. They
immediately put it into practice, what they learnt.

Your positive attitude, sincere intention, and dua will have the greatest impact on your ability to learn quickly.
Right from the beginning learn the materials well, with the intention of teaching others. Remember the golden rule of learning:
I listen, I forget.
I see, I remember.
I practice, I learn.
I teach, I master.
Unique feature of this course:
This course focuses on teaching us the Arabic we already know and recite every day of our life. It’s the most ideal course for the Muslim Ummah, most of us learn to read Quran and pray Salah. However very few of us understand what we recite in our everyday salah. This course starts at that basic level and first teaches us to understand the Arabic you use every single day of your life.
Our aim has always been to make the learning of Arabic easy, and it is with this in mind the whole course has been developed. With more than 25+ years of research and practical teaching experience. By the Grace of Allah, we have developed this course.
All we ask is that you sacrifice the few hours needed to study the 19 units with us, and Insha’Allah you will understand all the Arabic you use in your salah, and 50% words of the Quran.
Having learnt how to pray, this course is probably the next best investment of your time. The
joy of understanding what we recite during our salah, cannot be explained in words, it’s an experience that we will enjoy again and again. It will help bring us closer to Allah during our salah, build khushu, and make us eager to understand more and more of the Quran everyday of our lives.
Grammar:
Each lesson includes a key Grammar session. The grammar contents do not directly relate to the main lesson but grammar is taught in small manageable chunks.
Our aim is to avoid confusion, and make the understanding and practical use of the grammar easy. We do not use any technicalities or grammar terminologies to teach our course, only practical application.
The grammar & conjugation you learn will accelerate your learning of Qur’anic Arabic and vocabulary. After just a few lessons, you will be able to see the benefit of learning in this way.
This is a natural approach to learning, and we do not use any Arabic grammar
terminology at all in this course.
Follow the 7 ‘easy to follow steps’:
9 Understand Quran Academy (UK) www.UndersatandQuran.co.uk Email: [email protected]
We promise you a stress free, fun filled, spiritually and intellectually uplifting learning experience. No hours of homework, no need to write any notes during lessons, just relax, and interact with the Tutor. This course is UNIQUE and UNLIKE any other.
In addition to the live classes, we will ask you to incorporate the 7 very simple and easy to follow steps as part of your daily routine.
Our course is designed around busy and responsible people; we fully understand that you may not have hours and hours of time at your disposal to study. The 7 steps will take only few additional minutes from you day and easily integrate into your life.
Your course tutor will give you additional details, but please do not ignore these easy to follow steps, they are very effective and will help in internalising easily all the course materials you learn without much effort.
Two for Tilawat:
1. At least FIVE minutes recitation of the Qur'an from the Mushaf (The Book).
2. At least FIVE minutes recitation of the Qur'an from memory (during sitting, walking, cooking, driving, ironing etc.).
Two for Study:
3. 10 minutes (max) study of the course note and do the exercises. Use the revision plan as explained by the tutor.
4. 30 seconds study of the vocabulary sheet, preferably before or after every Salah. Give a pledge to Allah that you will always carry the vocabulary sheets with you until you complete the course.
Two for Listening and talking to others:
5. Listening the Audio (mp3) which contains the recitations with word-for-word meanings of the course contents. You can listen to it in your car while driving and at your home while performing household chores. You can also record the contents of this course yourself and listen to it again and again.
6. Talking to your family members, friends, or colleagues for at least one minute every day about the lesson that you have learnt. Share it with the world around you …
The last one for using it:
7. Recitation of the Surahs (you have learnt) in rotation in the Sunan and Nawafil of daily Salah. This is to stop the habit of reciting the same Surahs again and again in your daily Salah. Please read in slow measured tones (with tarteel) and try to feel the meaning of what you recite.
Your key to success: Dua will bring barkah, reduce your study time, and help you learn quicker, so make dua
(i) For yourself رب زدني علما (my Lord increase me in knowledge); and
(ii) For your friends, “May Allah help us and them in learning the Qur’an.”

May Allah make us all amongst those whom the Prophet (SAS) mentioned in the hadith:
The best way to learn is to teach, so from day one make the intention of sharing this knowledge through teaching others. Immediately put a plan in place and start teaching the Arabic of Salah.
In the hadith both the student and teacher is honoured.
رنا القر كر آولقد يس كر فهل من مد ن للذ And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember:
then is there any that will receive admonition? (Surat –ul-Qamar 54: 17, 22, 32, 40) Allah has made the task easy for us, and with the barakah, (which only comes from Allah) we will be able to gain so much more with the little effort.
When you make sincere dua for others, Allah will also grant you more of the same. So make dua that Allah Grants the whole Muslim Ummah, the Understanding of Quran. May Allah have Mercy on the Ummah of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (sas).

In the first row (table below), the main Arabic text to be studied is given. The second row contains word-for-word translation. This is followed by the explanation of the words in the third row, and the fourth row has the basic translation of the Arabic text.
Recite the complete Arabic text first, and then read each word along with its translation, repeat three times clearly and loudly, in a slow rhythmic voice. At the end read the full Arabic text and the translation (bottom line).
Remember, to put your heart and mind into it, recite with passion and feeling.
