1) Hammurabi's Code was the first set of written laws. It was harsh but fair in my ways and even progressive for it's time. It also took into account all of the other laws of it's time.2) The king was in charge of leading the military, helping religious ceremonies, public works, taxes, and acting a judge for disputes.
