How: Harmonize and utilize existing and

Initiatives e.g. NICTBB, National Data

Centers, UCSAF, HERIN, National PKI etc.

GOVNET is an independent Government

Communication Network based on

IP/MPLS network technology.

Goal is to connect all MDAs, RSs and

LGAs throughout the country into single

scalable, robust, flexible network.

Initially 72 MDAs within Dar es Salaam,

Pwani and Dodoma are being connected

also 77 LGAs in different areas will be

connected

The Government of Tanzania through the

Tanzania Communications Infrastructure and

e-Government Project (RCIP Tanzania) has

procured an Indefeasible Right of Use (IRU) of

1.55 Gbps bandwidth to be used by targeted

priority user groups, namely: Government,

Hospitals, Schools and Universities.

Delivering Government Services through mobile

channels would ease the accessibility of those

services by saving cost and time but most

important increasing the number of citizens who

can access the services

The increased mobile growth in Tanzania is an

opportunity for mobile applications deployment

and access of electronic services by the majority

citizens and businesses.

Government through eGA has established a

Mobile Services Platform to offer SMS, USSD,

IVR Services (More detail during 3rd Session
