    Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim Assalamualaikum W. B. T & Salam 1Malaysia

    Praise be to Allah for the successful compilation of the first ever School of Engineering & Information Technology (SEIT) Handbook version 1/2010. It is noteworthy to mention here that this handbook is also registered formally under the ISBN.

    The main purpose of this book is to act as a reference and guidance for academic and non academic staff regarding terms of reference (TOR) for every major meetings in the school as well as to have better understanding on the roles of our School Executives. It also aims to facilitate better communication and liaison among staffs by providing contact details for every staffs in the School.

    Hopefully, with the publication of this book, we will have clearer views on many things in the school and eliminate any communication barriers among us and may become a good practical reference to all of us.

    Finally, I would like to thank everyone especially those who are directly and indirectly involved in the process of issuance of this handbook until it is materialised.

    The School of Engineering and Information Technology (SEIT) was established in 1996 to meet the country's increasing needs for skilled manpower in the field of engineering and information technology. The goal for the establishment of the School is in line with the Vision of Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS): To become an innovative university of global standing. The School strives to foster and promote an environment conducive to teaching and learning, and excellence, particularly in engineering and information technology.

    The objectives of the School are:

    To produce globally recognized, technically competent, and well-balanced professionals in their respective fields. To conduct innovative research of international standing that benefits society. To carry out social service activities that benefits the community.

    The vision and mission are:

    VISION

    To become a global centre of quality professional education.

    MISSION

    SEIT aims to be an internationally recognized centre of academic excellence by providing a balanced education to spearhead the nation's professional development.

    The programmes, curriculum, and courses are designed to equip the students with the necessary skills and knowledge for their careers in business, consultancy, marketing, information technology, education, etc. To achieve these objectives, the School works in collaboration with industries and the various agencies so that the programmes are consistently relevant to the current needs of the industry.
