Link training materials to QR codesQuick response codes, or QR codes, are matrix bar codes that can be used to create machine-readable optical labels containing information about whatever they are attached to. Initially developed for the automotive in-dustry, their use is spreading quickly across other industries. They seem to be universally useful because they can be read quickly by mobile devices and they store more data than standard UPC bar codes.

With SAP Workforce Performance Builder, you can automatically create QR codes that your field representatives can scan to instantly link to the relevant content you have created. The process is remarkably simple – once you’ve created the QR codes, you simply print them out on adhesive labels and stick them to the appropriate assembly, asset, or component. Once these labels are in place, accessing learning content – or any kind of additional information – is a simple matter of pointing a mobile device at the QR code and clicking. You define approved users, who simply log in to the software using a mobile device and start creating materials that can be deployed immediately to any desktop, laptop, or mobile platform. To further enrich the learning mate-rials, you can leverage the “producer” option in SAP Workforce Performance Builder to add alternative approaches to explaining a topic in order to improve knowledge transfer. This can facilitate reuse in other output formats – for example, as performance support or as a video.
