Demorou, mas o Brasil finalmente rece-beu a montagem do musical mais bada-lado da Broadway, Wicked, em cartaz

em São Paulo, no Teatro Renault. Assim que soube que o “blockbuster do teatro” viria ao País, o ator e cantor Jonatas Faro decretou: não ficaria de fora da versão nacional. “Conhe-ço o espetáculo há anos, assisti cinco vezes, sendo três em Nova York e duas em Londres. Sou fã incondicional, conheço todas as músi-cas. Era um sonho fazer parte de algo tão bo-nito”, conta à VCP News.

A peça fala dos bastidores de O Mágico de Oz, principalmente antes da aventura da ga-rotinha Dorothy e do cãozinho Totó. Mostra o nascimento da amizade entre Elphaba, a Bru-xa Má do Oeste (interpretada por Myra Ruiz), e Glinda, a Bruxa Boa (vivida por Fabi Bang), e como nem tudo é o que parece. Desde que estreou, em 2003, o musical foi visto por quase 50 milhões de espectadores em 12 montagens ao redor do mundo, com arrecadação de cerca de US$ 4 bilhões em bilheterias.

Jonatas é Fiyero, um encantador rapaz que, assim que coloca os pés em Oz, conquista o coração das duas bruxas. “O Brasil é privile-giado por receber uma peça única como es-sa, com uma mensagem tão linda sobre amor, amizade, aceitação. Só é preciso ter um pouco de sensibilidade para deixar se envolver pelas músicas e pela história.”

O ator conta que ele mesmo se surpreendeu com a montagem brasileira, pois não lembra-va de alguns detalhes do musical. “Fazia muito tempo que não assistia e foi ótimo, porque fui me apaixonando de novo pelo texto no decor-rer do processo. Havia desfechos que eu não lembrava, então teve um sabor de descoberta até para mim.” Wicked está previsto para ficar em cartaz até dezembro deste ano. •

ed, in São Paulo, at Teatro Renault. As soon as he heard the “theatrical blockbuster” was about to come to Brazil, the actor-singer Jonatas Faro declared he wouldn’t be out of this national ver-sion. “I know the show for years, I’ve seen it five times, three in New York and two in London. I’m an unconditional fan, I know all the songs. It was a dream to be a part of something so beauti-ful”, he tells VCP News.

The play is about the behind the scenes of The Wizard of Oz, especially before Dorothy and Toto’s adventure. It shows how the friend-ship between Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West (played by Myra Ruiz), and Glinda, the Good Witch (played by Fabi Bang) was born, and how everything is not what it seems. Ever since it opened, in 2003, almost 50 million peo-ple have seen the musical in 12 versions around the world, raising about US$ 4 billion, in the box offices.

Jonatas is Fiyero, a charming boy that, as soon as he arrives to Oz, wins the hearts of both witches. “Brazil is lucky to stage a version of a unique play as this one, with such a beautiful message about love, friendship, and acceptance. It’s only required to be a little sensitive to be tak-en by the songs and the story.”

The actor tells that he was surprised by the Brazilian version, because he couldn’t remem-ber a few details of the musical. “It has been a while since I last saw it, and it was great, be-cause I fell in love with the play all over again during the process. There were outcomes I didn’t remember, so it was like seeing it for the first time, even for me.” Wicked is expected to be shown in Brazil until December. •Por Fábio Trindade
