ESIPUHE

Tämän tehtäväkokoelman julkaisemiseen antoi ratkaisevan alkusy-säyksen edes mennyt Matti Myllyniemi (1930 – 1987), joka valikoi Veikko Hynö sen tuotannosta 72 tehtävää ja kirjoit ti käsikir joi tuksen ensimmäisen version kom mentteineen ja rat kaisui neen. Hän myös paransi ja korjasi joitakin tehtäviä. Vuoden 1990 aikana allekirjoittaneet toimittivat käsikir joi tuksen lo-pulliseen muotoon laajentaen ja tarkistaen kom ment teja, kääntä en tekstin englanniksi ja laatien teema luet telon sekä lyhenne osan. Teppo Mänttä tarkisti valikoidut tehtävät niin korrektisuu den kuin lähde tie to jen kin osalta, ja hänen löytönsä ja huo mautuk sensa antoivat aiheen joidenkin tehtävien korjaami seen tai korvaamiseen uusilla. Use-ampisiirtoiset ja loppu tehtävät on tarkistanut Pauli Perkonoja. Seuraavat tehtävät ovat läpäisseet tietokonetestauksen: 1–26, 32–41, 45–57 ja 62–64. Pitkien mattitehtävien sivumuun nelmissa duaaleista ei ole välitetty, jos niillä ei tehtä vän pääidean kannalta ole katsottu olevan mer ki tys tä. Englanninkielisen tekstiosuuden on tarkistanut Henry Tan ner, jota on avustanut Neal Turner. Kuviot on laatimallaan tieto kone ohjelmalla tehnyt Timo Kallio. Kannen on suunni tellut Jorma Hinkka ja ulkoasun muilta osin Hannu Harkola. Taloudel lisen vastuun kirjan julkaisemisesta on ottanut kantaakseen SUOMEN TEHTÄVÄNIEKAT ry.

FOR THE READER We are indebted for the apperance of this problem collecti on to the late Matti Myllyniemi (1930 – 1987). He selec ted 72 problems of Veikko Hynö nen and wrote the first versi on of the manuscript, including the solu-tions and the com mentary. He also corrected and improved some of the problems. During 1990 the co-authors of this book completed Myl lynie mi’s work by expanding and partly re-writing the commenta ry, transla ting it into English and writing the theme index as well as the appen dix with abb reviations, symbols etc. The solutions as well as the sources were scru tinized by Teppo Mänttä. As a result of his investigations some of the problems selected by Myllyniemi were repla ced or corrected. Pauli Perkono ja checked the more-movers and the studies for soundness. The following problems were computer-tested: 1–26, 32–41, 45–57 and 62–64. The duals in some of the longer problems were ignored unless they occured in the main play. The English text was revised by Henry Tanner who was assis ted by Neal Turner. The diagrams were drawn by using a com puter program devised by Timo Kallio. Jorma Hink ka designed the front cover and Hannu Harkola the lay-out. The book let is published by SUOMEN TEHTÄ VÄ-NIEKAT ry (The Finnish Chess Prob lem Society).

VEIKKO HYNÖNEN Veikko Hynönen syntyi 24.8.1920 Joroisissa ja kuoli Helsingissä 22.2.1985. Ammatiltaan hän oli poliisi. Hänen esikoistehtävänsä julkaistiin Suomen Sosialidemokraatissa vuonna 1950 ja viimeinen tehtävänsä The Problemist’ issa vuonna 1986.

Hynönen laati 330 tehtävää varsin tasaisesti tehtäväshakin eri alueilta. Myös ajallisesti hänen laa-dintansa oli tasaisesti ja kautunut. Huomionar voista on suuri määrä yhteistehtäviä, joita hän laati 40. Laadintatyylistä voi todeta, että Hy-nönen ei ollut kiin nos tu nut ny kypäi-vän paradokseja ja syk liik kaa sisältä-vis tä aiheista, vaan viihtyi parhaiten loo-gisten ideoiden ja strate gis ten perusteemojen parissa.

SUOMEN TEHTÄVÄ NIEKAT ry:n johtokunnan jäsenenä Hynönen toimi vuosina 1958–72, josta ajasta sih-tee ri nä vuodet 1958–62 ja 1971–72.

Yhteistyössä Matti Myllyniemen kanssa hän kirjoitti E.A. Wirtasen tehtäviä esittelevän kirjasen “EAW” vuonna 1982. FIDE-albumipis teitä hänellä on vuosilta 1959–1982 11,83. Albu meista löytyvät hänen tehtävänsä n:o 10, 24, 41, 43, 46, 56, 58 ja 70. Veikko Hynöselle myönnettiin kan sal li sen tehtä-vämestarin arvo vuonna 1978 ja shakin ansiomerkki vuonna 1985.

VEIKKO HYNÖNEN Veikko Hynönen was born on 24th August 1920 in Joroinen and pas sed away on 22nd Febru-ary 1985 in Helsinki. He was a police-man by profession. His first problem was published in "Suomen So sia lidemokraatti” in 1950 and the last one posthumously in “The Problemist” in 1986.

Hynönen’s total output was 330 problems of all kinds. Of these 40 were composed jointly. A composer of the strategic and logi cal school, he was not so much interested in modern ideas invol ving cyclic play and paradoxes.

During the years 1958–1972 Veikko Hynönen was a member of

the board of The Finnish Chess Problem Society, acting as secretary in 1958–1962 and 1971–1972. With Matti Myllyniemi he wrote in 1982 “EAW”, a booklet con taining chess problems by E.A. Wirta nen. Hynönen totalled 11,83 FIDE-album points in 1959-1982. Nos. 10, 24, 41, 43, 46, 56, 58 and 70 in this collection have been included in FIDE-albums. Veikko Hynönen was awarded the title of National Master of Chess Composition in 1978.

SATUSHAKIN KÄSITTEITÄ

Itsematissa valkea alkaa ja pakottaa vastentahtoisen mustan te kemään valkeasta matin.

Apumatissa musta alkaa ja pyrkii yhteistoiminnassa valkean kans sa tekemään mustasta matin. Apumatin vaihdelman (*) tavoite on sama kuin apumatissa, mutta mustan alkusiirto jää pois.

Duplex-muotoisessa apumatissa on normaalin ratkaisun lisäksi myös ratkai su, jossa valkea alkaa ja molemmat pyrkivät siihen, että valkeasta tulee matti.

Sarjasiirtoisessa apumatissa musta tekee siirtoluvun määräämän siirtosar jan niin, että valkea voi sen jälkeen tehdä yhden siir ron matin. Kumpikaan kuningas ei saa olla shakissa ennen viimeistä siirtoa. Apupatin ja sarjasiirtoisen apupatin määritelmät ovat samat kuin vastaavan apuma-tin, mutta tavoitteena on patti.

Eräiden satunappuloiden siirtymistapoja:

- Julmuri liikkuu ja lyö kuin yhdistetty kuningatar ja ratsu- Seepra eli (2,3)-ratsu siirtyy a1-c4 tai a1-d3 - Kirahvi eli (1,4)-ratsu siirtyy a1-b5 tai a1-e2 - Heinäsirkka siirtyy kuningattaren siirtymislinjalla olevan lähimmän nap-

pulan takaiseen ruutuun- Berolina- eli kääntösotilas siirtyy viistoon ja lyö suoraan- Kirppu siirtyy kuningattaren siirtymislinjalla olevan nappulan takana

olevaan viimeiseen vapaaseen ruutuun. Jos linjalla on useita nappuloita, kirppu hyppää niiden kaikkien yli ensimmäi seen vapaaseen ruutuun.

- Taksi on sotilas, joka liikkuu myös taaksepäin mutta lyö vain eteen päin. Ensimmäisellä siirrollaan taksi (valkea 2. ja musta 7. rivillä) voi edetä yhden, kaksi tai kolme askelta. Viimei sel le riville saavuttuaan tak si voi myös olla korottu matta.

FAIRY CHESS TERMINOLOGY

In a selfmate White moves first and forces Black to give mate.

In a helpmate Black moves first and helps White to mate him. In the set play (*) of a helpmate the stipulation is fulfilled wit hout Black’s first move.

In duplex problems both White and Black can fulfil the stipula ti on.

In a series helpmate/helpstalemate Black makes first a stipula ted number of single-moves, then White makes one single-move giving mate/stalemate. Neither King is allowed to be in check in the course of the solution. Black may give check on his last move.

The fairy-pieces that appear in this problem collection move as follows:

- Terror moves like Queen and Knight combined.- Zebra (2,3-Knight) moves from a1 to c4, or to d3.- Giraffe (1,4-Knight) moves from a1 to b5, or to e2.- Grasshopper moves any distance along ranks, files and diagonals on

to a square immediately beyond an intervening man of either colour. G does not hop over two men.

- Berolina Pawn moves forward diagonally one square at a time (or two for its first move), and captures on and attacks the square direct ly ahead on the file.

- Flea moves like Grasshopper, but on the last unoccupied square on the file, rank or diagonal. In addition, if there are several men of either colour on its line of movement, F hops beyond them all on the first unoccupied square.

- Taxi is a Pawn that can also move backward, but it captu res only forward. For its first move Taxi (White on the 2nd or Black on the 7th rank) can move one, two or three squares for ward. When reaching the last rank, Taxi also has the option of not promoting.
