Diana Vermeire, an of counsel attorney with GableGotwals, has been named to Lawyers of Color’s Second Annual Hot List, which recognizes early- to mid- career minori- ty attorneys working as in- house counsel, govern- ment attorneys, and law firm associates and part- ners. Vermeire is an attorney with experience in the cor- porate and nonprofit sec- tors. Her practice includes state and federal litigation; administrative, regulatory and legislative advocacy; policy analysis and man- agement for a diverse client group. To nominate an Edmond resident as a “Champion of Character,” log on at www.edmondcharacter.org/nominate and tell us: (1) how the person demonstrates the character trait, and (2) what the benefit was. “A diamond is a piece of coal that stuck to the job.” - Michael Larsen the corporate venue sponsors this year “Lexus is one of the sponsors of the 2014 Senior Open,” said Doug Berryhill with Lexus. “We will be providing 234 new Lexus to be used as cour- tesy vehicles for players and officials. “Eskridge Lexus has a VIP Hospitality Villa on Hole 15 and we are distrib- uting tickets for it at this time.” Berryhill said Lexus also has a tent open to the pub- lic at the entrance of the golf course with two new car models that will be available to the public this fall. “In 2008 we had 11 ven- ues which were corporate sponsored and this year we have 25 venues,” Ewing said. He added there is a shared hospitality venue called the Champions Club that a business can still help sponsor. The air conditioned villas (venues) sponsored by cor- porations are decorated according to the sponsor- ing company’s wishes. They may provide furni- ture, televisions, food or drinks, and they will be used for entertaining employees and clients, Ewing said. Each company will decide what type of service they want to pro- vide and guests must have special passes to enter. There is a Trophy Club on the 16th hole, which has a sports bar theme and attendees can upgrade their ticket to go inside. “Our goal is to have everyone show up and enjoy a great community event for Oklahoma,” Ewing said. Miller said the hardest part of the academy was learning to come together and succeed as a group. “The survival course was a real gut check,” Deyager said. “It was a stressful week but now we know we can be pushed beyond our limits and survive.” Richardson told audience members that since they started the academy 20 weeks ago, 48 policemen had been killed across the United States, making the training these police officers received paramount for their future.
