VIGAN FIELDTRIP

Treasure the memories, filled with good

sceneries, man-made structures, the preserved culture,

sweet and unique delicacies, architectural significance,

these made a great time for everyone.

We travelled almost 11hrs from Batangas to

Ilocos and thankfully God blessed us a safe trip. Inside

the bus, lots of happiness were shared that made a

bonding between us. Patient through excitement awaits

and the almost stress free days had given to us. Eventhough we were delayed

and unable to take a look at Pagudpod, our instructors made ways for us to

easily maintain the happiness we had shared in each other.

Marcos Museum

At first, we dropped by

this museum that showcases

memorabilia of late Pres.

Marcos. The museum was well

organized. While looking at

pictures and everything on it, I

can see how Marcos really tried

to make ways for his

constituents but because of his undying love for Imelda, he made decisions he

think he needed to. A large and gloomy tomb of Marcos was sealed in glass

coffin. And suddenly, I wondered why can’t he be buried until now?

Paoay Church

Page 2: VIGAN PHILIPPINES

Our next stop was in this picture perfect Baroque church. The façade was

great and everything looks really great. Pictures everywhere with lots of smiles.

Who can even resist the beauty of this church? Every detail was on hand and

really fascinating to the eyes. The unique combination, baroque and oriental

styles is commonly known as Earthquake Baroque. Paoay church is something

to be proud for it was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Can’t we

preserved more old churches so we can have more to visits and be proud for?

Malacanang of the North

This promises not

only the interesting

memorabilia to visitor’s

eyes but also a

picturesque view of Paoay

Lake at its courtyard,

breathing in the fresh

breeze of air and relaxing

view of Paoay Lake really calm your spirit. Everything on this place looked grand

and really suits for First Family at Marcos time. Someday, I want to have this kind

of home to live in, at peace on its own place.

Sand Dunes

As we are blessed to have

a tropical climate, this kind of

Page 3: VIGAN PHILIPPINES

place is somewhat an extraordinary adventurous attraction we need to develop.

Plenty of sand, some trees, steep mountain of sand, windy place, all are in

balance. We had ride on a 4x4 to experience an adrenaline rush while shouting

and unstoppable laughs made a memorable enjoyment. Sand boarding was

somewhat a good time to let go of your weigh and stress. Everything here was

worth it even the sand on your skin.

KAPURPURWAN ROCK FORMATION

Here in this

naturally and

wonderfully made

stunning place where

massive rock formations

shines in white color

was a surely a great

attraction for everyone’s

eyes. When we arrived,

it was quite raining here

or maybe the huge waves were the reasons why our hair and skin were

somewhat sticky. We didn’t try to have a horseback ride for it was out of our time.

Windy, cloudy but we still go on and leave footsteps while smiling and taking

pictures we can surely treasure.

Bangui Windmills

These giant windmills are

really fascinating. These supply the

40% of Ilocos Norte’s electricity.

There are 20 windmills, others are

spinning while others stay calm.

Here was also windy and cloudy, so

that it makes somewhat hard to take

or have great pictures with

windmills. When I came near on one

of the windmill, I felt so small, and

waves are like planning to give

some show. But thank God, none of

us got hurt rather happiness took all along on our stay. Beautiful and useful at its

finest.

Heritage Resort of Caoayan

It took 4hrs for us to be on this

place, here is where we ate dinner, had

swimming and a good shower for all of us.

Creepy imaginations somewhat came on

our minds at night because some of the

rooms are located near a cemetery. But by

God’s grace, everything turned out so fine.

In the morning, breakfast was still so good

and the accommodation were so great. By

before lunch we had our devotion time led

by Arch/Ptr. Catequista, again there were

lot of lessons learned. And after packing all

our things, we were ready again to go on a

trip.

Baluarte

Gov. Chavit Singson was

the owner of this huge land and

attraction site. Baluarte was an

interactive wildlife sanctuary and

facility with its breathtaking

sceneries of a green environment

that made it somewhat different

from other zoos. And his house

which was gold plated was just as

stunning as it be. The people

where all in excitement while touring in its wide perimeters. I bought four small

flutes to give for my little cousins. I regret riding in the free pony ride, but still

satisfaction reigns. And we finally, get back on our bus and so excited to be on

the center town, Vigan.

Page 5: VIGAN PHILIPPINES

Before we travel around the

famous street of Calle Crisologo, we

took a calesa ride, our kutsero was an

old man with a horse named Manny. At

first, he brought us in the bell tower but

we didn’t walk in for we are too hungry.

Then, after a long ride we came by a

restaurant named Hidden Garden,

bagnet and Malaga fish were the foods we had tried to eat. And I won’t forget

how this restaurant really symbolizes Philippine architecture. Also, the structures

built in the town was on heritage style and everything was really fascinating to

the eyes. The capitolio, fountains, churches, must see buildings.

Heritage Village – Calle Crisologo

Page 6: VIGAN PHILIPPINES

They said this was the major attraction of Vigan for this street was an

evidence of how we are conquered by the Spanish and the architecture still

remains. I had a high respect for this street or rather this town for their effort to

preserve everything that can signifies how life in the past is. Here, we bought

some souvenirs, like tshirts printed with Vigan descriptions. We ate in a small

restaurant and tried the monster fries in which one of my classmate forgot his

keychain souvenirs. We filled our eyes with all the street can offer. I just love

seeing all the heritage structures or houses, the antique furniture and the people

around the street.

Conclusion

After all the places we had travelled, I

realized how blessed we are on

having these kinds of attractions in

just one province. Everything was

worth all the waits and everything was

just an exemplary memories to

treasure for. The natural and the man-

made attractions were all stunning on

their own significances. Great

experiences together with lovely classmates, friends and instructors made this a

fun filled travelling.
