Starting the international route from Tainan to Hong Kong, China Airline planned to de-

velop another international route in the late October: from Tainan airport to Kansai air-

port, Japan. There will be two flights every Tuesday and Sunday: one is from Tainan to

Kansai; the other is from Kansai to Tainan. The residents in Tainan do not need to go toTaoyuan airport or Kaohsiung airport if they plan to travel to Kansai area in the future.

Tainan airport became international airport since last April. The first international route

was between Tainan and Wuhan. In July, 2013, China Airline developed the route be-

tween Tainan and Hong Kong. In this case, the new route between Tainan and Kansai

will be the third international route of Tainan airport.

China Airline revealed that the passenger load factor of the route between Tainan and

Hong Kong was approximately 80%, and it was still improving. On the other hand, the

amount of visitors traveling to Japan from Tainan was tremendous. Therefore, China

Airline decided to add the route between Tainan and Kansai in the late October. The

flight will be on Tuesday and Sunday initially, but the price of the flight has not been de-

    cided.

China Airline stated that four main city of the Kansai area was Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe and

Nara. Kansai area, which has precious and rich historical and Japanese cultural monu-

ments, has attracted numerous Taiwanese tourists to experience the local cultural cus-

toms. Besides, Tainan was also called Taiwanese Kyoto. Having the route betweenTainan and Kansai will be a great event for people in both countries.

Guantian District is in the heart

of Tainan City, and has long since

made a name for itself nation-

wide as Taiwans top producer of

    water chestnuts. Every Septem-

ber and October is the peak sea-

son for water chestnuts in Taiwan, and all over Guantian youll see farmers

out collecting their harvest, rowing their boats out or wearing full-body

wet weather gear out amidst the fields, turning leaf after leaf to collect

chestnuts in a demonstration of pastoral elegance. The sight of the farm-

ers boats in the fields has become renowned as one of the must-see

sights of southern Taiwan. Every year, this old-fashioned location on the

banks of Hulupi is home to the Guantian Water Chestnut Festival, bringing

together the local chestnut industry and cultural activities, including lion

dances, dragon dances, concerts, special sales and tasting sessions for wa-

ter chestnuts, opportunities to go water chestnut picking, and folk art per-

    formances.
