Pastor’s Message
There is the Lamb of God
who takes away the world's sin.'' (John 1:29)
When Adam and Eve committed their first sin, God revealed His plan
to send the Messiah for mens' salvation when He cursed the serpent
by saying. ''...From now on you and the woman will be enemies, as
will your offspring and hers. You will strike his heel, but he will
crush your head." (Gen. 3:15).
In Old Testament times, the anointed High Priest was the mediator
between God and his people and as such, he used to enter the holy
sanctuary once a year to make atonement with the blood of a young
bull and a goat. "This shall be an everlasting law for you, to make
atonement for the people of Israel once each year, because of their
sins." (Lev. 17:34).
When Jesus Christ the Messiah came, He sacrificed himself and
took the curse for our wrongdoings upon himself to free us from
death and sin's power once and for all, and He is our anointed High
Priest and the only mediator between God and His people. "Christ
being come a High Priest of good things to come, by a greater and
more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of
this building; Neither by the blood of goats and bulls, but by His own
blood he entered in once into the Holy place, having obtained eternal
redemption for us." (Heb. 9:11,12).
Christ the Messiah has been crucified so that all the nations could
have the blessing that God promised to Abraham; and all of us as
Christians can have the promised Holy Spirit through this faith.
Christ died on the cross to defeat Satan, prince of death. And His
resurrection gave us a new hope for a new life, Eternal Life. Before,
the cross was the symbol of punishment and death. But now it is the
symbol of grace, salvation and strength.

PASS IT ON… By: Krista Parnagian
There once was a young boy who ran with a neighborhood
gang. In later years, he recalled that while he had wished for a better
life, he didn’t know that a gang was not the way to achieve it. An
older friend finally came to him and made him realize how much he
was limiting himself. He said, “He told me that it didn’t take guts to
follow the crowd, that courage and intelligence lay in being willing
to be different.”
The young man left the gang, put away self-pity, and began
to do something with his life. He developed his physical potential
and within a few short years, became a sensational athlete. Starring
in football, basketball, baseball, and track at UCLA, he was the first
person at the university to win awards in all four sports. He went on
to play pro football with the Los Angeles Bulldogs before being
drafted for World War II. After the war, he switched to baseball and
signed with the Brooklyn Dodgers, which made Jackie Robinson
the first black player in major league baseball.
Wishing doesn’t get you there; doing does.
Message: I command you – be strong and courageous! Do not be
afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever
you go. Joshua 1:9

This is a wonderful way to help the church financially.
You can use your card at Save Mart

Hello Everyone,
As usual the New Year is going by so quickly; time just seems to be
flying by. Soon our new Hayr Sourp will be here to lead us in the
worship of God. I want to thank Der Hayr Gosdanian for serving our
church faithfully for so long and for being such a great coworker in
Christ.
Youth Group is getting a new start time. Instead of starting at 5:00 pm
Sunday evenings, we will be moving our beginning time to 4:00 pm
and ending time will be 6:00 pm, to accommodate our young scout
members. Our young people are fantastic and involved in so many
things that when we can accommodate we should. We are almost
finished with the Book of James and will start a new video series about
why Jesus is so important in our faith.
Our College and Career group meets on Tuesdays from 6:30-8:00 pm.
We have just finished going through the Book of Revelation. This was
an interesting journey and I think everyone brought different thoughts
and ideas to the Bible Study, as we traveled through the last book in
our Scriptures. We talked about wanting to get to know our Old
Testament a little better; so, we will be starting in the book of Genesis.
Our young people are fantastic people, and I would like to encourage
you to get to know them. Every relationship we build with them helps
unite them with the church. We want our young people to see our
church as their church home. I would encourage you to get to know
one or two of the young people that you see at our church.

There is one Christmas Carol that has always baffled me. What in the
world do leaping lords, French hens, swimming swans, and especially the
partridge who won’t come out of the pear tree have to do with Christmas?
This week, I found out…..
From 1558 until 1829, Roman Catholics in England were not permitted to
practice their faith openly. Someone during that era wrote this carol as a
catechism song for young Catholics. It has two levels of meaning: the
surface meaning plus a hidden meaning known only to members of their
church. Each element in the carol has a code word for a religious reality
which the children could remember.
-The partridge in a pear tree was Jesus Christ.
-Two turtle doves were the Old and New Testaments.
-Three French hens stood for faith, hope, and love.
-The four calling birds were the four gospels of Matthew, Mark,
Luke & John.
-The five golden rings recalled the Torah or Law, the first five books of
the Old Testament.
-The six geese a-laying stood for the six days of creation.
-Seven swans a-swimming represented the sevenfold gifts of the Holy
Spirit-Prophesy, Serving, Teaching, Exhortation, Contribution,
Leadership, and Mercy.
-The eight maids a-milking were the eight beatitudes.
-Nine ladies dancing were the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit-Love, Joy,
Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and
Self Control.
-The ten lords a-leaping were the ten commandments.
-The eleven pipers piping stood for the eleven faithful disciples.
-The twelve drummers drumming symbolized the twelve points of
belief in the Apostles’ Creed.
So there is your history for today. This knowledge was shared with me
and I found it interesting and enlightening. Now I know how that strange
song became a Christmas Carol… so pass it on if you wish.
