We are sure glad that you chose to worship The Lord with us today.

Pray: 1

We continue today with a verse by verse exposition of the book of Acts.

1 All Scripture taken from the King James Version (via e-sword, reference (Ref:), www.e-sword.net ) or the

Korean King James Version (KKJV, ref: http://www.keepbible.com ). All word definitions are from Strong’s

Concordance (SC), via e-sword. The King James Concordance (KJC), lists the synonyms for that Hebrew or

Greek word, and their address in Scripture.

Sometimes, large quotes are taken from reference books inside of e-Sword and placed into the Background

Notes. These notes are provided to give context to terms or issues that the speaker is preaching and teaching on.

Generally, sermons are posted later on the IIBC website. When you refer to https://iibckorea.com/sermon-

archive/ you can download selected sermons for review.

We also encourage IIBC members to pray for three impossible things, for three minutes every day. What is

impossible in your life? Have you asked God about it yet in prayer?

Matthew 21:22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

We are in Acts Chapter 2. We are covering the second half of the

chapter today.

Context: 배경

Does anyone remember what we covered last week?

That’s right, we covered giving; specifically – Tithing.

Missionary, are you going to re-preach on tithing today.

No, I am just going to emphasize a couple of points:

Page 3: We are sure glad that you chose to worship The Lord with us today. · 1 day ago · We have a complete Bible in our hands, which is all the sign that we need to serve God faithfully

We have a complete Bible in our hands, which is all the sign that we need to serve God faithfully. 3

God is Holy. God’s Word is Holy. The tithe is holy.

Not tithing is robbing God.

Malachi 3:10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be

meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if

I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that

[there shall] not [be room] enough [to receive it].

The storehouse is the local church.

If we want ‘strong meat’ preaching at IIBC; we need to tithe.

This morning, Let’s start again in Acts; Peter is preaching to the Jews

present at the feast of Pentecost.

A sign gift has been given to show the Jews that they need to believe in

Jesus Christ.

Acts 2:22 Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man

approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did

by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know:

Page 4: We are sure glad that you chose to worship The Lord with us today. · 1 day ago · We have a complete Bible in our hands, which is all the sign that we need to serve God faithfully

We have a complete Bible in our hands, which is all the sign that we need to serve God faithfully. 4

The Lord Jesus Christ is the sinless Son of God.

God the Father approves of the Son.

He did many miracles and signs.

He fulfilled all the Old Testament prophecies made about Him.

23 Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God,

ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:

the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God

- God knows the beginning and the end,

The Lord Jesus knew no sin, but He became sin for you and me, so we could be

saved.

He took our punishment.

We have a complete Bible in our hands, which is all the sign that we need to serve God faithfully. 5

Are you saved?

Missionary, you say that all the time.

Yes. Here is why …

Hell is a real place.

Hell is a terrible place.

We don’t want anybody to go to hell.

If you do not know for sure that you are saved; you should trust Christ

today as your Saviour.

Acts 2:24 Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because

it was not possible that he should be holden of it.

Jesus Christ could not be holden by the pains of death.

After three days and three nights in the tomb; He rose again.

25 For David speaketh concerning Him, I foresaw the Lord always before my

face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved:

Page 6: We are sure glad that you chose to worship The Lord with us today. · 1 day ago · We have a complete Bible in our hands, which is all the sign that we need to serve God faithfully

David was prophesying about The Lord Jesus Christ.

26 Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my

flesh shall rest in hope:

David was looking forward to the coming of the Messiah.

The Messiah would come from David’s bloodline, as God promised.

27 Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine

Holy One to see corruption.

The Lord Jesus, after His death upon the cross, descended into hell [Hades],

preached to the spirits there, and led captivity captive;

Paradise was taken to heaven.

If we compare Scripture in Luke Chapter 16, we see that Hell had two

Page 7: We are sure glad that you chose to worship The Lord with us today. · 1 day ago · We have a complete Bible in our hands, which is all the sign that we need to serve God faithfully

1) Paradise, or ‘Abraham’s bosom’.

That is where the beggar Lazarus went after he died, and he was comforted.

It was separated by a great gulf fixed and on the other side was:

2) Hell, which was a place of torments. That is where the rich man went. 2

[ The Missionary may now speak to the Prophetic Chart to the left of the

podium ].

28 Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy

with thy countenance.

Jesus Christ is the way of life.

29 Men [and] brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that

he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day.

David’s grave is on Mount Zion; which is a high hill in Jerusalem.

We have a complete Bible in our hands, which is all the sign that we need to serve God faithfully. 8

All the Jews there at Pentecost more than likely knew where it was at.

It is an important landmark in Jerusalem.

30 Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to

him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ

to sit on his throne;

King David was a prophet.

He wrote many of the psalms.

We have sung a few of these psalms here at IIBC.

31 He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was

not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.

So we see the intent of David’s prophecy – he was foretelling the Resurrection

of The Lord Jesus Christ.

Page 9: We are sure glad that you chose to worship The Lord with us today. · 1 day ago · We have a complete Bible in our hands, which is all the sign that we need to serve God faithfully

We have a complete Bible in our hands, which is all the sign that we need to serve God faithfully. 9

We have made this statement before at IIBC; 전에 IIBC 에서 이 구절을

The Resurrection is the central doctrine of Christianity. 3

The Death, Burial, and resurrection of Christ – that is what the Gospel

shows.

The Death, Burial, and resurrection of Christ – that is what Biblical

baptism shows.

If you are saved; you should be Biblically baptized.

Missionary, you sure emphasize baptism a lot.

Well, The Lord Jesus commanded us to be baptized. 4

The Lord Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist, as an example for us.

After folks were saved at Pentecost; they were baptized.

32 This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.

The Lord Jesus Christ is alive.

33 Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the

Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see

and hear.

The promise of the Holy Ghost.

The Lord Jesus had told the local church in the upper room at Jerusalem, to

‘wait’ for the coming of the Holy Spirit.

The Spirit has just been given here.

This is a Sign gift with respect to tongues.

This sign gift was given such that Jews present would believe.

Page 11: We are sure glad that you chose to worship The Lord with us today. · 1 day ago · We have a complete Bible in our hands, which is all the sign that we need to serve God faithfully

We have a complete Bible in our hands, which is all the sign that we need to serve God faithfully. 11

But from now on, the Holy Spirit will be given to every believer at the

moment of salvation.

Everlasting life means just what it says.

Once saved; a person cannot lose that salvation.

Spiritual Gifts are given at salvation.

We will preach and teach on that subject of Spiritual Gifts down the road.

34 For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The LORD

said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,

35 Until I make thy foes thy footstool.

36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that

same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.

would believe the Gospel.

So, if we are paying attention to numbers, we had 120 folks in the local church

at Jerusalem, before Pentecost.

And on this day there were 3000 saved. [3120]

Wouldn’t that be something that would get people excited?

- That would mean we would have to increase our weekly order of kimbap

and cup ramien!

We would have to help Dr Tchah. Now, he has a strong baptism muscle; but he

might get tired after baptizing a 1000 or so.

6 Acts 1:15 And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples, and said, (the number of names

together were about an hundred and twenty,)

Let’s look at the EXPLOSIVE CHURCH GROWTH as recorded by Dr.

Luke.

7

Salvation: gladly received his word

42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in

breaking of bread, and in prayers.

Let’s see – they continued steadfastly – as they Prayed, Read their Bibles, went

to church, and witnessed.

7 Go through this in the book of Acts. Can you find any other instances? Let me know.

Perhaps, Some of them even tithed.

At IIBC, that would mean attending: SS, SM, Lunch, SAft, Wed Eve (visit us

43 And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by

the apostles.

44 And all that believed were together, and had all things common;

Missionary, are you going to preach on faithfulness to church AGAIN?

We already did.

Are you going to preach on Tithing? Well, we did that last week, we’ll

continue on that subject again Very Soon!

man had need.

This is not communism.

Communism tears down, and gives more to an elite class than to its workers.

This is Christian generosity.

46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking

bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of

heart,

Fellowship is important.

47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to

the church daily such as should be saved.

Our testimony is important.

Christian growth includes:

Salvation (Are you saved?)

Baptism (If you are saved; have you been baptized by immersion?)

Pray (Pray for each other).

Read your Bible (It will make you wise.)

Be faithful to all the services of the local church. (Don’t be an anemic

Christian; be strong in The Lord by being faithful.)

And witness. (This is how the early church grew – they witnessed).

And now a word from Senior Pastor Tchah.

INVITATION: Every head bowed and every eye closed, please. Christians:

Confess known sin; then pray for God to bless the Invitation.

Three questions:

1. Are you saved?

Are you born again from above.

If You died today are your 100% sure that you would go to heaven.

If you are not saved, we would love to take a Bible and show you how

you can know for sure that you are saved.

2. Have you been baptized by immersion, since salvation, in a church of

like faith and practice?

If you are saved and have not yet been baptized by immersion, I would

like you to let Pastor Tchah know that this morning.

The Lord Jesus was baptized by immersion by John The Baptist.

The Disciples and Apostles were baptized by Immersion.

The Lord Jesus commanded his disciples to preach and teach the Gospel,

baptizing those who got saved. 9

Baptism therefore, is a command to be obeyed.

There is nothing to be nervous about. We are family and friends here.

3. Are you ready to meet God?

a. We all should be ready to pray, to give testimony about the Lord,

or to pass away.

b. Is there any bitterness on your heart?

c. Is there any sin that you need to confess to God, silently, as you

pray?

If you need to come to the altar to pray, the invitation is open to you.

Day of the Lord – Phrase search, via e-sword:

9 Matthew 28:18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in

earth. Mat 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the

Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Mat 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you:

and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
