Status Report: 工程师| Launch Product: MorOx| Date: July 13, 2012

Brief IntroductionMorOx is an innovative product, which will provide oxgen and improve the quality of air in which we live in. MorOx is brought to you by 工程师 , which means “Engineer” in Chinese.

工程师 was founded in July 2012 and is currently composed of:● Saúl Zugasti, Chief Financial Officer● Mariana Mejía: Chief Operations Officer● Fallo Barragán: Chief Marketing Officer● Dalos Ortiz: Chief Public Relations Officer

It is purpose of this report to describe, analyze, and review the development of the MorOx prototype since its inception a little less than 2 weeks ago.

Nowadays, the number of products proclaiming to be Eco-friendly has risen in the marketplace due to the various environmental problems facing the world today such as climate change.

This new environment has made the world a very different place in terms of the way we work, travel, and of course, live.

We as a society are polluting more than ever before, filling the environment with excess CO2.

Our thirst to expel more CO2 into the atmosphere has even led us to cutting trees, mother nature’s “cleaners” of the air. Trees absorb CO2 from the environment and transform a toxic gas into the gas of life; oxygen.

This is why there is a need for a product such as MorOx.

Clean air is a basic civil right that belongs to every human being. No fellow human being must be forced in inhale toxic fumes and it is an by all members of the human race to do their part and reduce air pollution.

MorOx is a device that increases a room’s air quality by combining nature and technology.

MorOx is a system with a spinning mechanism that involves plants, water and oxygen. The plants in the MorOx system are inserted into a wheel and are turned at a constant speed by a hand-powered generator in the back of the system.

The plants spin constantly at a specific speed and pass by a water reservoir at the bottom of the system in order for that the plants receive water. The ‘plant wheel’ has been equipped with special holes that allows for excess water to be removed as the system completes another rotation. Located in the center of the system is an LED light which allows for the plants (which are

facing towards the LED) to receive the proper amount of ‘sunlight’ through out the day.

The spinning mechanism in the system also allows for the oxygen being dispersed by the plants to be quickly and evenly dispersed throughout the environment.

MorOx is simply a product that aims to optimize nature’s processes in order to improve the air quality in our daily environments.

MorOx features two very important and innovative features; 1. MorOx is made entirely from recycled or recyclable materials2. MorOx uses the power of a linear generator in order to provide power

to the system. The user simply cranks the hand generator in the back of the system in order to charge the spinning mechanism for an 8-24 hr period.

Even though there are products on the market that offer similar systems, the technology behind our in regards to its construction makes it stand out in the marketplace. One product, GreenWheel, on the market requires electricity and is made from materials that one would not consider to be eco-friendly and is offered at an extremely high price point.

Therefore, we believe that our product, MorOx, can tap an unmet desire in the market for eco-friendly products that help improve air quality. Our mission is to help provide our consumers with ‘more oxygen, more life’.

The steps we did to build the product were (pictures at the end of the document) :

1. We brought a recycled fan that we didn’t use (1.1)2. Take the pedals of the fan3. Make three holes to the base that had the pedals 4. Then get a polytube of 1.30 m. (1.2)5. Make a circle with the polytube. 6. Make holes in the inside and outside part of the tube each 10 cm.7. Attach the polytube to the base where you did the holes. 8. Construct a water deposit and join it with the case.9. Paint all the pieces of different colors. (1.3)10.Fill the inner tube with soil and seeds (1.4)

Testing our prototype was not as good as we expected. At first, our motor spin very fast and the plants where going to get harm. Then when we were able to reduce the speed by increasing the weight, it was finally functioning but then bad news came. Our motor didn’t support too much weight and burn up. After a while we thought of how to do something that could maintain the plants spinning but at the same time not damaging the motor. We found that a hand crank motor would be better and at the same time would be more eco-friendly but we were not able to test it.

To make the prototype look better we can use prettier plants such as flowers and we canalso paint the inner tube before putting the plants because we painted the plants a little bit.

We want to make our prototype eco-friendly because basically this product already exists but it is made with really expensive and heavy materials and it use a lot of energy to work. Our prototype is made of cheap and light materials, and with a hand-crank motor it will be very eco-friendly.

Our manufacturing plan is to be partners of a company that produces fans that can provide us all plastic pieces and at the same time the hand crank motor. With this process our company would be moreefficient and reduces our costs. We expect to have this Morox in departmentstores such as Costco   or Sams and with that we will be able to achieve certain market that can buy our product.
