Company profileSirmax is a PP compounds producer and a distributor in Europe.The natural polypropylene (PP) coming from petrochemical plants (for example Basell and Borouge) is not suitable for many technical applications.For this reason it is compounded by extrusion adding mineral fillers, glass fibers or elastomers to improve the characteristics of the material up to the requests of the final application.The PP compound can be colored, and mixed with additives to improve the resistance to weathering, heat and chemical aggression. The compound looks like granules of 3-4 mm size.2) Main uses of PP compoundThe main volumes of PP compound are used in the automotive and appliance fields. We can estimate the presence of about 80 Kg of PP compound in every car, and 8 Kg in every appliance







like washing machine, dishwasher and also refrigerator.3) PP compound processingThe granules are processed by “injection moulding”. The process is a cycle: The machine is fed with the granules which are then melted and finally injected into a steel tool. After cooling and solidification the tool opens and release the piece, ready for use. The process is quite quick, usually one to two minutes for each cycle.

Type of partners that are looking forPotential customersConsidering the automotive and appliance fields, there are three kinds of PP compound users.a) Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM): They are direct suppliers of the automotive or appliances producers. In this case the PP compound is first approved by the parent company and then an agreement is undersign. The product is delivered in their or their supplier’s warehouses.b) System suppliers (Tiers 1): They do not supply only the injection molded pieces, but assembly an entire part, like the bumpers, the instrument panel cover, complete door panels, complete seats, or the oscillating group in the case of washing machine. The system suppliers can process the PP compound by their own in their facilities or can outsource the piece production to specialists of injection molding (Tiers 2).
