Suspended ICONE19 On March 11th, the northern part of the main island
of Japan was hit by a massive earthquake, and the ensuing Tsunami occurred by the earthquake devastated the area killing numerous people and damaging on its infrastructure.
Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plants of Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) were heavily damaged, therefore, we concluded to suspend the ICONE19 in Makuhari this May. We have discussed the alternative ICONE19 and we decided to hold the ICONE19 in Osaka this October.

After 7 monthsMore than 7 months have passed since the
earthquake, but there still remain many people evacuating from their home-town specially due to the Fukushima Accident.
The Accident is imprinted on the consciousness of the Japanese people. The Accidents has, also, caused the debate about suitability of nuclear power as a desired energy resource in the world.
After 7 monthsAlready some European countries have
decided to forsake nuclear power as a long-term resource for electricity generation.
Their decision is governed by public emotional opinion. It is sure the radioactivity is a fear complex in the mind of most people as the long-term effects are not clearly known.
However, fossil fuel is not a good choice from the environmental and climate change considerations.

A chance to discuss Now, every efforts have been taken with world-wide
wisdom and technology in Fukushima. All engineers have to consider the profound issues
and the practice of nuclear power which may have led to the large consequences of the Fukushima accidents.
So ICONE19 in Osaka has set the plenary session including the special session regarding the current status of Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plants. This conference gives us a chance to discuss the future energy!
