术，也使西班牙的建筑风格成为欧洲乃至全世

界世人瞩目的一枝独秀。

提到建筑，就不得不提现代西班牙建

筑集大成者高迪，他创作的“巴特勒公寓”

和“巴塞罗那圣家族教堂”堪称西班牙历史

上最伟大的建筑，每年都吸引着世界各地数

百万人顶礼膜拜。但我们发现，我们只能用

神秘、奇异等一些飘忽不定的词来形容它的

风格，正如西班牙传奇的历史，充满了多元

性。可是，这不就是西班牙的迷人所在吗？

一个令人诧异的事实：世界上拥有文化

遗产数量最多的国家，不是西方文明的摇篮

希腊、罗马，也不是东方古国中国、印度，

而是西班牙。古代欧洲文明和阿拉伯文明、

北非文明在这里交汇，每个时代的辉煌都在

分布着众多的古罗马时期建筑群的马德里及

周边地区，以充满想象力的现代主义建筑

兰风味的科尔多瓦古城建筑群以及对拉丁美

洲的建筑风格产生重要影响的巴埃萨文艺复

兴建筑群和乌贝达文艺复兴建筑群，诸如此

位于欧洲伊比利亚半岛西南端的

西 班 牙 ， 是 一 个 神 奇 的 古 老

的欧洲国家。面积50多万平方

公里，境内几乎都是高山和高原，绵延不断

的比利牛斯山脉阻断了欧洲大陆南下的冷空

气，造就了与欧洲中部、北部国家性格截然

相反的，热烈、张扬的西班牙。

欧非“桥梁”

拥有欧洲国家中最长的海岸线，西班牙西邻

葡萄牙，北濒比斯开湾，东北与法国、安道

尔接壤，东和东南临地中海，南隔直布罗陀

海峡与非洲的摩洛哥相望，位于大西洋和地

中海航线的咽喉要地，这不仅提供给西班牙

丰富的海上自然资源，更使它成为通往欧

洲、非洲、中东和拉丁美洲的“桥梁”。

东南和西北两面临海，西北的比利牛斯

山脉尽管阻挡了来自北方的冷空气，但内陆

依然山脉纵横，这样复杂的地理环境使得西

班牙拥有多达5种明显不同的气候类型和气候

资源，也成就了多姿多彩的西班牙，使每个

地区都有着独特的历史、文化和自然风光。

西班牙斗牛

没有什么比斗牛更能代表西班牙的精神——身

穿绣金服装的斗牛士，猎猎生风的红布，狂怒

的公牛，热血沸腾的观众，这场面比狂欢节

更激动人心，比宗教祭祀更庄严神圣。这些英

勇、灵巧而且(通常是)英俊的斗牛士，是西班

牙最富有浪漫色彩的传奇英雄。当然，现代社

会也有不少组织和个人职责它的残忍。

弗拉门戈舞蹈

弗拉门戈舞是西班牙人的骄傲，与斗牛并称

为西班牙两大国粹之一。弗拉门戈舞融合了

印度、阿拉伯、犹太，乃至于拜占庭的元

素，再注入西班牙南部的吉普赛风格后，形

成了今天慷慨自由、豪放不羁的绚丽舞姿。

演员高超的舞蹈技巧，一招一式尽显风情，

散发出撩人心魄的魅力，每一个优雅的转身

和定格都足以令观众震慑，滚雷般铿锵的舞

步，深邃迷醉的眼神将西班牙民族独特的狂

野奔放的热情演绎得淋漓尽致。随着时代的

变迁弗拉门戈舞蹈，结合了探戈、塞圭利

亚、桑布拉等九个极赋特色的舞蹈，营造出

纯正浓厚的弗拉门戈风情。

西班牙水疗

看过了勇武的斗牛，奔放的弗拉门戈舞，在

越来越注重自身健康的今天，人们又将更多

的目光投向耀目阳光下西班牙各式各样的水

疗。毫无疑问，西班牙水疗与西班牙人的日

常生活息息相关，同时也带有独特的阿拉伯

气息。不管怎样，西班牙水疗的确是不折不

扣的现代水疗，而且大都是附属于酒店的休

闲设施，就算是城市水疗一族在这里也能得

到国际水准的专业款待。

其实，西班牙水疗这一特点，与传奇的

历史是紧密相连的。公元711年，阿拉伯民族

摩尔人入侵西班牙，几乎占领了整个伊比利

亚半岛。在接下来的750年，他们还建立了独

立的穆斯林国家，著名的阿尔-安达卢斯就是

当时的穆斯林管辖区。然而，这次阿拉伯人

的入侵留给西班牙的是不可磨灭的痕迹，不

仅仅是建筑和美食，还有水疗。

阿拉伯人长达七个世纪的统治，对西

班牙来说是一部倒退的屈辱史。与之相伴

的，是西班牙人坚强不屈的长期反抗。一直

到1492年，西班牙人取得“光复运动”的胜

利，建立了欧洲最早的统一中央王权国家。

值得一提的是，同年10月，哥伦布发现了

“新大陆”西印度群岛，西班牙自此逐

渐成为海上强国。

接下来的三个世纪是西班牙在世界范

围内扩张殖民地的主要时期，在十六世纪成

为了欧洲最强大的国家。于是，西班牙的城

市留给我们最深刻的历史印象来自于两大方

面，一是阿拉伯人的入侵，二是西班牙的盛

极一时。

从公元711年以后，水疗就开始成为西班

牙人生活中不可缺少的组成部分。受当时信

奉伊斯兰教的影响，净身对于穆斯林来说是

非常重要。于是在当时，穆斯林科尔多巴就

有超过600多个阿拉伯公共浴池。从某种程度

上讲，这些都是罗马浴池的沿袭。浴室的墙

用砖瓦砌成，并有拱门和栅栏将各个房间分

隔开来。有的经济实惠，有的则奢华许多，

但大多能沿用至今。

从文献记载中可以看出，西班牙人是

现代化生活的的先驱：他们使用牙膏、洗发

水、精油和有麝香、茉莉或紫罗兰味道的肥

皂。这些物品在今天都还在使用。在这里，

我们还要提到阿拉伯人继承穆斯林世界的一

个传统习惯，即水是上帝赐予的礼物，也是

智慧与纯洁的象征，它可以浇灭人类心中的

罪恶和欲望。因此，哈曼在水疗中自然就变

成了最神圣的环节。

土耳其浴

在于西班牙隔海相望的摩洛哥，哈曼(土耳其

浴)几乎遍布每个角落，而且是按照不同的日

期和时间共男女顾客分别使用。这一传统虽

然已经在西班牙哈曼中消失，但它在水疗中

仍然非常重要。现代哈曼由3个温度逐级递

增的浴区组成，第三个浴区还设有一个小水

池，里面有冷热水流交汇并不断溢出。沐浴

者取用热水将身体各部位打湿，促进皮肤毛

孔扩张，并在使用润肤露或者香皂前，用粗

糙的海面或轻石揉搓身体。如果有需要，员

工可以随时帮你搓身体或者按摩，为女性顾

客服务的叫做“Tayabastes”,为男性顾客服务

的叫做“Kiyassas”。如今的摩洛哥，哈曼演

变为女性美容沙龙，专门为女性提供脱毛和

美发等服务。他们将一种叫做“ghasul”的

肥皂粘土溶解到玫瑰和橙花水中，然后用来

为顾客清洗头发，香气会持续几小时甚至几

天。但不论现代水疗如何改进和提高，哈曼

仍旧在西班牙水疗中占有一席之地，也是西

班牙水疗的特色之一。

西班牙特色水疗

接下来，让我们详细了解一些西班牙的特色

水疗。

The Spanish Spa DifferenceWhen talking about things Spanish, we are always familiar with passionate bullfights, distinctive Mediterranean architecture, varied geography and human landscapes. But now, more people are

turning their attention to the different Spanish Spas

Spas in Spain are different. First of all

they are totally woven into the Span-

ish lifestyle. And, secondly, they are

not quite the same as spas in other countries.

They have a decidedly Arabic sense about

them. They are still modern spas in every

sense of the word – perhaps mostly con-

nected to a hotel but the day spa user is very

well catered for. Yet, even in a day spa you

may be able to detect an Arabic flavor.

Spas in Spanish HistoryTo understand why this should be you need

a line or two about the history of Spain. In

711 C.E., the Moors, who consisted of a

mixed Berber and Arab army, invaded and

conquered nearly the entire Spanish penin-

sula. During the next 750 years, independ-

ent Muslim states were established, and the

entire area of Muslim control became known

as Al-Andalus. This Arab invasion has left a

permanent mark – more in the south than the

north of the country – and you can see it in

the architecture, the cuisine and, quite often,

in the spas.

The Arabs held Spain for seven centuries

and the process of getting it back, the Recon-

quista, did not end until 1492 with the fall of

Granada and the founding of the Kingdom

of Spain through the unification of the King-

dom of Castile and the Kingdom of Aragon.

(Incidentally, this was the year Christopher

Columbus made his voyage to discover the

New World.)

For the next three centuries Spain was the

most important colonial power in the world.

It was the most powerful state in Europe and

the foremost global power during the 16th

century and the greater part of the 17th cen-

tury. Thus in the cities and, yes, the spas you

have two great historical influences. First the

Arab occupation and then the glory that was

Spain.

Note that while Christian towns were

not clean and sanitary places, even less so

the inhabitants, at that time of squalor – the

right word to describe conditions throughout

Europe – the Muslim Cordoba had more

than 600 public Arab baths. These were, in

a sense, heirs of Roman baths. Some were

humble and economical, others were luxury.

The same applies today. Their walls were tiled

and their rooms were separated by arches

and columns. And, yes, in many of the up-

market places that style, the feeling, is still

there. In Spain spas have been seriously part

of life since 711.

Documents from that period show the

refinement of the 'Andalusi' ancestors: they

used toothpaste, hair-removing cream, oils

and aromatic lathers with musk, jasmine

or violet essences. That is all available to

this day. One specific Arab custom needs

describing. Know first that for the Islamic

world, water is a divine gift, but it also repre-

sents deep wisdom and purity, the drink par

excellence which quenches the soul's thirst.

HammamTherefore, the hammam in the spa has

become an obligatory passage for the great

events in life. In cities in Morocco each quar-

ter has its hammam, which generally shares

fire with a bread furnace. There are days

and times reserved only for women or only

for men. Both of those features have disap-

peared in the Spanish hammam but it is still

an essential part of the spa experience.

Modern hammam consist of three main

rooms that gradually immerse the bather

into different temperatures environments,

each higher than the one before. In the last

room, a little reservoir receives a boiling and

a cold water stream. You pour hot water

on different parts of the body until the skin

pores are dilated and, before applying any

type of gel or soap, you scrub yourself with

a rough sponge or a pumice stone. The staff

are also there to help bathers, if they want,

by rubbing or giving massages. There are

'tayabastes' for women or 'kiyassas' for

men. In Morocco the hammam has turned

into a beauty salon where women can get

waxing, get the tangles out of their hair and

comb it. For the hair washing they use a

soapy clay that is called 'ghasul', dissolved

in rose and orange blossom water. They use

traditional henna for dyeing and clearing their

hair, which they remove when they go to the

hammam, often hours or days after spread-

ing onto their heads. All of this has been

modified in Spain for modern tastes, modern

pace and modern style. But the hamman is

still there in almost every spa. It is the distin-

guishing feature of the Spanish spa.

Spanish SpasLet us look, at random, at some of the spas

and what is offered.

SHAIn Alicante, the SHA Wellness Clinic is about

45 minutes' drive from Alicante airport and

about double that from Valencia airport. It has

received almost every award a spa can be

honored with.

It boasts, correctly, that it is dedicated to

the improvement and notable prolongation of

people's well-being through the combination

of antique Oriental disciplines and revolution-

ary Western techniques. The aim is a harmo-

nious balance between body, mind and spirit.

It concentrates on natural health, anti-aging

and non-invasive Aesthetic Medicine.

This is very much a resort spa with the aim

of teaching healthy habits and how to main-

tain them. This is an exceptional spa offering

exceptional services which can only truly be

enjoyed on a residential basis. The spa is a

destination.

Hotel Selenza Estepona Thalasso & SpaHotel Selenza Estepona Thalasso & Spa is

located near Estepona, about an hour’s drive

from Malaga airport. Thalassotherapy – sug-

gested in the name of the spa – comes from

the Greek word thalassa, meaning "sea", and

is the medical use of seawater as a form of

therapy. Hotel Selenza Thalasso & Spa is an

up-market establishment providing the largest

sea water spa in Andalusia and some quite

remarkably excellent food. The position is per-

fect for it, only 600 meters from the sea and

the beach. This is a largish establishment with

91 rooms and suites, and 21 independent vil-

las. This is a contemporary design and, impor-

tantly, each room has its own private balcony

on which to enjoy the sun and the Mediterra-

nean air. In a sense there is a slight conflict as

the quality of the food is outstanding. However,

it also offers personalized dietetic menus which

complement the treatments and health pro-

grammes and are delicious while being totally

guaranteed not to make you fat. At about two

thousand square meters this is Andalusia's

largest seawater centre.

Hotel Peralada & Wine SpaOne of the most unusual spas is the Hotel

Peralada & Wine Spa, which is some 60

kilometers from Girona airport. It is a five-

star hotel in the beautiful Empordà region

40 minutes north of Girona, surrounded by

natural parks and only 15 minutes from the

best beaches on the Costa Brava. This is one

of the few spas in the world which is located

amidst its own vineyard. It boasts 55 rooms

with views to the golf course, the Albera

mountain range, the medieval town of Perala-

da and the Pyrenees in the background. This

hotel has a tranquil and exclusive atmosphere

with countless spaces to relax far away from

the madding crowds.

The Hotel Peralada specializes in the

local Mediterranean cuisine from Empordà,

with, of course, excellent wines from its own

winery. Not far is the famous Dalí museum in

Figueres, where you can make up your mind

whether this great eccentric was also a great

artist or merely a superb marketer.

The Wine Spa is a beauty and wellness

center that is unusual, possibly unique, in

that it is inspired by Peralada's wine tradi-

tion. It offers visitors a wide range of facial

and body treatments based on the natural

benefits of grapes and wine. Vinotherapy, or

wine therapy, has its origins in the culture of

the ancient Greeks and the Romans. Vino-

therapy describes a beauty therapy process

where the residue of wine-making (the pips

and pulp) are rubbed into the skin. The pulp is

said to have excellent exfoliating qualities and

help reduce problems associated with aging.

The Wine Spa is the first wine therapy center

in Spain and only the second in Europe. The

Wine spa has a water circuit area inspired by

the cellars in Peralada's Castle, with different

areas in which to relax. The treatment area

consists of over 15 treatment rooms and one

singular area that recreates the cloister of the

former monastery of Peralada's Castle. And,

yes, it has a Finnish sauna and a Turkish bath.

健康保障要排毒

冬天里暂停下来的运动以及春节

期间大吃大喝的放纵，造成很

多人的身体处于不佳状态，解

决的方式大多是去健身，或者通过节食来转

变一下当前慵懒的生活状态。说到底，不仅

是为了调整身体，更是为了美。

但无论你有没有感觉到，其实我们的身

体每天都在饱受毒素的折磨，自身还在源源

不断地产生新的毒素。因此，要想维持体内

平衡，让身体保持高效运作，不仅要靠身体

自己坚持不懈地与成年累月堆积下来的废弃

物做斗争，更需要借助一些外力来与毒素抗

衡，以达到真正调整健康状态的目的。

传统的排毒方法有许多种，如中医排毒

法，水果、花草茶排毒法，刮痧排毒法、物

理排毒法以及医学排毒法等等。也许是受当

下水疗风靡的影响，水疗排毒(物理排毒法的

一种)越来越受到青睐和追捧。水疗是怎样帮

助我们身体排毒的呢？这应该是一个持续渐

进的过程，还只是为了穿进比基尼，疯狂地

一蹴而就呢？但不管选择哪种排毒方式，在

完全准备好排毒之前，让我们先来了解一下

关于毒素和排毒的基本知识！

毒素的积累

许多原因都会导致毒素累积于体内，主要包

括体内毒素和外来毒素两种。摄入食物，饮

酒和吸烟是毒素沉淀于体内的三个主要渠

道，我们的身体还得想方设法去对付这些毒

素。根据人体慢性中毒学说和各国专家大量

的人体清理实践，国外的保健专家和学者甚

至断言：任何人如果在吃喝上放纵自己，又

不能经常地清除体内毒素垃圾，就会在体内

存储大量的毒素垃圾。一般成年人体内有

3-25公斤毒素垃圾。我们身体正常的新陈代

谢其实也会产生毒素，比如肌肉组织中的乳

酸，当其在肌肉组织中的含量达到足够高的

水平时，就会使肌肉开始萎缩，颈部、肩部

和背部会感到紧绷酸痛。同时，肠内宿便及

糖脂肪，蛋白质代谢紊乱也会导致体内毒素

的产生。

大气污染是外来毒素侵入人体的一个主

要渠道，空气中的有毒物质会增加我们身体里

的毒素。此外还有蔬菜中的农药残留，汽车尾

气，工业废气，化学药品及化妆品中超标的重

金属等，都会加重毒素在人体内的累积。

血液流动

每次做按摩的时候，都会有一个排毒疗程。中

国的按摩疗法是一种典型的不用任何产品做辅

助的排毒按摩。敏捷的按摩动作可以使僵硬的

肌肉发热，促进血液流动。含氧量较高的血液

Whether we like it or not we consume,

are affected by, and create our own

toxins within our body every day. Our bodies

are constantly battling to get rid of accumu-

lated waste, to regain balance and for our

body processes to work effectively and for us

to function in optimum health.

As the winter finally recedes and we begin

to shed some layers of clothes, many of us

will see the results of the winter lull in exercise,

overindulgence during the festive periods, and

feel generally sluggish and not at our peak.

As thoughts turn to the summer holidays on

the beach, many of us will consider joining a

fitness center, starting a detox programme,

going on a diet or changing lifestyle, mostly

for purely aesthetic reasons.

So, how can a spa help? What do we offer

to assist people in detoxifying, and should it

be an ongoing process, or just something we

have an indulgence in once a year to get us in

shape for wearing a bikini?

We often find ‘detoxification’ and ‘weight

loss’ used together when reading about treat-

ments in spas, but this is not necessarily the

case. Most educated people realize that the

most successful way to lose weight is to have

regular exercise and to eat less calories, so

that the output of energy is greater than the

input, therefore stored energy within the body

will be used. If this happens regularly there will

be a reduction of stored fat within the body,

and weight loss will follow in due course.

Accumulation of Toxins in the BodyOur bodies build up toxins in the muscles and

tissues for a combination of reasons. Eating

certain foods, drinking alcohol and smoking

are three ways by which we introduce toxins

into our system, which our body then has to

deal with. Those of us living in urban areas of

China may also have concerns about the air

that we breathe, and whether this is adding to

the levels of toxins in the tissues, another rea-

son for us to consider a detox. Meanwhile, our

natural body processes also create toxins as

by-products of metabolism, such as the lactic

acid build-ups in muscles that, when it reaches

high enough levels in the tissues, mean that

our muscles stay permanently contracted, giv-

ing us the tight knots we commonly feel in our

necks, shoulders and backs.

Blood FlowEvery time we have a massage, we are hav-

ing a detox treatment. Chinese massage is a

classic example of how we can detox without

any products being used. The rapid massage

movements, targeting stiff muscles, will warm

the area and encourage an increase in blood

flow to the affected area. Blood, which is high-

er in oxygen concentration, will help to flush

the toxins such as lactic acid from muscle fib-

ers, which in turn allows the muscles to relax,

rather than existing in a state of tetanus, which

causes discomfort and pain. Lymph, which is

delivered from the blood to the cells, will deliver

oxygen and nutrients to the cells, and absorb

toxins and other waste products, before enter-

ing either the veins or the lymphatic system.

Having a good flow of blood and all fluids

through the body is the best way to detoxify

the tissues, as they will return all toxins to the

organs, such as the liver and kidneys, which

can break down and excrete toxins effectively.

The Lymphatic SystemThe liver is an organ of the body that breaks

down many toxins. The lymphatic system

channels toxins through the body towards

the veins and liver for processing. One step

towards detoxifying the body is to encourage

movement through the lymphatic system as

it has no pulse pushing the fluids along. If the

lymphatic system is unable to properly func-

tion, there could be retention of fluids, including

toxins, in the body, which is not desirable. A

major function of the lymphatic system is also

to defend the body against disease through

the production and action of lymphocytes

(white blood cells.) A functioning lymphatic sys-

tem is generally very beneficial to health.

CelluliteIn women’s bodies, there is a natural depo-

sition of fats and accumulation of toxins in

certain areas of the body, resulting in cellulite

build-up. Reduction of these deposits through

vigorous massage techniques and improved

circulation are often high on the list of priori-

ties for many women during a spa experience.

Spa Treatments, facilities and products to

aid the detoxification process

Sauna, Steam and BathsThese are an excellent way to begin detoxi-

fying the body. The simple act of sweating

allows the body to excrete waste products

through the skin, and the action of sweat

evaporating from the surface of the skin

should cool the body. The blood will flow

closer to the surface of the skin, beginning to

warm up and therefore softening the muscles.

As well as being a perfect preparation for any

massage treatment, they are usually present

at spa facilities, and are therefore recom-

mended prior to any treatment.

Body WrapsThe most rarely-sold treatments in spas are

actually one of the best for detoxification. As

well as encouraging sweating throughout the

body and increasing the movement of fluids

through the various systems, associated prod-

ucts such as algae or other seaweeds have

a beneficial effect on the skin, nourishing and

moisturizing, which, if combined with massage

techniques aimed at reducing cellulite buildup,

can have a very positive effect on the body.

Essential Oils to Aid DetoxificationDetoxifying oils may often contain the essential

oils of grapefruit and other citrus fruits like lemon

and lime, as they are known for their assistance

in detoxifying the body. The fresh and sharp

scent has a positive and energizing effect on the

mind, and these fruits are well known to have

high concentrations of Vitamin C, which has a

powerful antioxidant effect on the body.

Massage Techniques Including Lym-phatic DrainageOne of the most pleasant ways to increase

detoxification is to enjoy a lymphatic drainage

massage. As the majority of the lymphatic

system lies just beneath the skin, it is easily

reached through gentle massage techniques,

from the extremities of the body towards the

heart, pushing the fluid towards lymph nodes

and eventually towards organs that deal with

the toxins contained within. This would usually

be one of the last stages of a massage. Once

oils are applied to the body and the body is

warmed up, vigorous massage techniques will

normally be used to attempt to stimulate the

release of toxins from the tissues in specific

areas of the body. This is a supremely relaxing

treatment with wonderful effects.

Water and TeaOnce the body has undergone detoxification,

there will be a need to replace lost moisture,

so pure mineral water is the best replace-

ment, to ensure that you are not just adding

toxins back into the body. Pu’er tea, from

Yunnan province, has been traditionally used

as an antioxidant tea that is said to increase

the metabolism of the body and some believe

it to be a good supplement to weight loss. If

combined with a detox programme, it is cer-

tainly thought to increase the benefits.

A regular lifestyle of detoxification should

assist us in feeling generally healthy, having

greater energy, being more productive and
