What Are the Different Types of DC Power Cable?
Battery Cable
Fine Stranded Battery Cable
SGX Battery Cable
Marine Battery Cable
¬ Standard lengths from 10’ to 500’
¬ Rated 60V
¬ SAE J1127, SGT type, +221° (+105°C), 8 gauge meets J1128
¬ Standard gauges from 8 to 4/0
¬ Standard lengths from 10’ to 500’
¬ Rated 600V
¬ Temperature rated +221° (+105°C) dry and +193° (+75°C) wet
¬ Standard gauges from 8 to 4/0
Standard battery cable is 100% copper stranded with PVC insulation to resist abrasion, fuel, oil, acid and salt. The insulation is also flame retardant. It is specified widely in OEM applications. Because of the stiffness of the insulation and larger gauge stranding, battery cable is less flexible than other cable types, but it is also quite resistant to cutting and abrasion damage.Quick Cable battery cable is available with red or black insulation, and features a color-coded stripe to matchwith the same gauge size connector.
More flexible than standard battery cable. Superior, High Performance Battery Cable for Auto/Truck, Marine, Industrial and Back-Up Power Applications.
More flexible than standard battery cable. Use for high temperature applications.
Our battery cable for marine applica-tions is UL listed BC-5W2 boat cable. It features an enhanced insulation for oil, fuel and acid resistance and is highly resistant to abrasion. It is a fine stranded, flexible cable with tin plating for corrosion resistance.Quick Cable marine battery cable is available with red or black insulation.
¬ Fine stranded, annealed BARE COPPER wire

leMachine Tool Wire (MTW)
¬ VW-1 rated, flame retardant
¬ Temperature range: UL and CSA 105°C – 600V 90°C MTW
¬ Rated 600V, sold by the foot
MTW is recommended for uninterruptable power supplies, machine tools, appliances, transformers, switchboard panels, controls, electronic circuits, and meters. Can be used as battery cable, motor lead and power hook-up cable. Other applications includerenewable energy (solar and wind).MTW is made from fine stranded, annealed bare copper wire and features PVC insulation that is tough, moisture and chemical (acid, fuel, oil) resistant.
UL® Welding Cable¬ Standard lengths from
10’ to 500’
¬ Rated 600V
¬ Rated +257° (+125°C)
¬ UL3284 and CSA CL1254 compliant
¬From 6 to 4/0 gauge
QuickFlex™ welding cable is also available as UL listed cable withfine stranded copper wire thathas been tin plated for corrosion resistance. Like other weldingcable it is very flexible.Available only with black insulation.
Welding Cable¬ Standard lengths
from 10' to 500'
¬ Rated 600V
¬ Temperature rated +221° (+105°C)
¬ Standard gaug-es from 6 to 250 MCM (250 MCM is only available in black)
Our QuickFlex™ welding cable is made with very fine stranded copper wire and is insulated with pliable synthetic rubber, so it is very flexible even in cold weather conditions. Welding cable is easier to route in tight spaces than battery cable. QuickFlex™ welding cable is avail-able with red or black insulation.
DLO RHH/RHW Cable
¬ Chlorinated polyethylene (CPE) jacket
¬ 600V and 2000V rated
¬ 90° C wet/dry continuous exposure
¬ Suitable for -40° C applications
¬ Sold by the foot
DLO cable is used in telecom power supplies, mining equipment, industrial and earthmoving equipment, diesel electric locomotives and other instances where flexible power leads must be installed in conduit or raceways. It is made with fine stranded, annealed and tinned copper wire and meets AAR-598 and ASTM B33. Insulation is ethylene propylene rubber (EPR), resistsoils, alkalis and acids, and has excellent impact, abrasion and tear resistance.
