Why your tweets should not feed to your facebook status. It’s a #fail !!! 1. Twitter and facebook are not the same, so don’t treat them the same. While facebook is trying to be more like twitter they still don’t serve the exact same purpose. 2. The majority of your friends on facebook have no idea why you’re status starts w/ “RT @mbj I totally agree, check out http://tinyurl.com/d8h7rp 3. For that matter, the majority of your friends are wondering who @whateverthatdudesnameis is, if that’s really a person, and why the typo with the @ symbol??? 4. Expanding on point #1, if you are using Twitter like you use facebook then you are missing the point. 5. My theory for how to use the two services. Just my opinion, I am not a social media expert. We’re all just learning as we go and some have more experience than others. Facebook is for your friends. Your definition of friend is what you want it to be. My general rule is that if I’ve met you in person then you can be my facebook friend (there are a few exceptions of course). It’s the social network for the cool kids that want to show they are savvy on the Internet, but not too nerdy. Twitter is for nerds. Following nerds that like the same stuff you do and sharing that nerdy stuff with them is what it’s all about. The best use of Twitter is to share nerdy goodness and even discuss it on this nerdy public platform. Some of the people you follow could be your friends, but they are just as big an Internet nerd as you. So, to summarize – twitter ≠ facebook / Facebook = friends / Twitter = nerds Again, this is just my opinion. The following slides show you how to remove the Twitter tool (or any application really) from facebook so your tweets no longer syndicate or autofeed to your facebook status anymore. That’s really the point of this slideshow anyway.
