MGATINUGYANAN (STEWARDS)Madamo nga beses sa akon ministeryobilang bag-o anay nga kura paroko saparokya ni San Antonio de Padua nganakalibot kami sa tatlo ka tuig sa mgabarangay kon gab-i sa pagpakonpesar,paghatag seminar kag paghalad sangmisa. Duha kami ka grupo nga ang isa

upod sa akon kag ang isa upod sa akonassistant. Diri akon madumdumannga ang pari indi isahanon sa iyaministeryo labi na sa mgakabaryohanan. Ang pari may iya siyanga team of evangelizers.

Kon ang ebanghelyo nagasiling singtagduha ka mga gintoton-an buotsilingon indi lang isa kondi sobra saisa, kon sayuron indi gid man eksaktonga duha lang kon mahimo madamosila (team).

Sa amon pagpanglakaton sa gab-i maymga kamalamalahan man nga wala

mo ginapaabot. Sa isa ka barangaysang nagahambal ako sa tunga saatubang sang mga tawo, maynagsulod nga lalake nga pamatan-onnga padayon sa paglakat pakadto saakon sa atubang sang altar. Ang konsepto sang gintugyanan(stewardship) nagakahulugan ngamay ipaambit ang tanan sa time,,talent and treasure. Gina-pasalamatan gid ang mga maalwannga naghatag sa parokya sang mgaimportante nga bagay (landresources) kag ila regularcontribution. Apang kon kaisa angPinoy maisipon gid nga kon amot anghambalan kwarta dayon ang isipon.Kon tiempo kag abilidad o kaalam anghambalan, madali magsukot omagpasuhot agud makaganar singdayaw o may iganar. Ang importantesa tanan amo ang pag-ululutod, pag-ambitanay, pag-respetohanay, pag-

To think of God as a mother, so loving,

so compassionate, is a moving experi-

ence. The Prophet Isaiah in the first

reading says: Even should she (mother)

forget, I will never forget you. See upon

then palms of my hands, I have written

your name... However, this image no

matter how beautiful it is not a perfect

one. In real life situations, there are

mothers who destroy their babies

through abortion. There are mothers

who abandoned their children and there

are times as we heard of mothers who

killed their children. God is never like a

bad mother. No human image or human

word is adequate enough to picture God.

He transcends all human experience.

He is more good and compassionate

than we can picture him.

Experience tells us that God is so loving

and provident with us. He wants us to

be free of care and anxiety just as the

flowers and the birds mentioned in

todays gospel. But there is something

wrong with this image. The beautiful

flowers we see in the bases in our home

were picked from the garden but finally

will wither. In one time or another we

came across of the bird lying dead on

the ground. What would happen to us if

we try to live as these flowers and birds?

We have to earn a livelihood. We have

to have the means to take care of our-

selves and those we love or else we die.

Being birds of the air and lilies of the

field is a kind of a wishful thinking but

it is not a realistic one.

REFLECTIONONTHE GOSPEL:

MATTHEW6: 24-34

Our relationship with God starts with

the reality that we are in total indepen-

dence of him a truth effected by sin.

It is only through Baptism that our re-

lationship with him starts and is real-

ized. It is He wants us to be with him.

Yet, in spite of this fact, we still want to

live our life in freedom. We believe in

ourselves responsible and mature

human beings. If we, however, want tocontinue our growth in Him, we must

have to start letting go. We must have

to give up living our own lives.

Prayer is a dialogue between two per-

sons in love. God wants us to go to

spend more time with him in prayer. He

wants us to learn how to be completely

dependent on him just like any human

baby dependent on his parents. In the

gospel version of Mark Jesus told us to

be like little children. The images he

used in todays gospel have the same

message as his command in marks ver-

sion. We should then become like little

children because God is more loving

and caring than we can ever picture

him.

Have we not notice that every time we

celebrate the Mass, there is the pres-

ence of the sign of what God is and what

should be our relationship with him?

This is manifested in the gift of the Eu-

charist the precious Body and Bloodof His Son as our nourishment. No price

can be tagged to this most precious gift

God is giving us. It isgratis et amore.

Just like the birds of the air and the lil-

ies of the field God feeds us with this

nourishment even though we have not

sown it nor did we gather it into our

barns.

The gospel reading seems to be unreal-

istic in standards of the world by the

pictures it shows our complete depen-

dence on God. It, however, tells us animportant truth that we must have to

grow in that dependence. And life is

concerned with growing up. Growing is

a long and tedious process. This growth

is an upward surge towards heaven

where we are to be embraced an all-lov-

ing God who is both a Mother and a Fa-

ther to us.

A Story onStewardship

Once, a man said, If I hadsome extra money, Id give itto God, but I have just

enough to support myselfand my family. And thesame man said, If I hadsome extra time, Id give it toGod, but every minute istaken up with my job, myfamily, my clubs, and whathave youevery singleminute. And the same mansaid, If I had a talent Id giveit to God, but I have no lovely

voice; I have no special skill;Ive never been able to lead agroup; I cant think cleverlyor quickly, the way I wouldlike to.

And God was touched, andalthough it was unlike him,God gave that man money,time, and a glorious talent.And then He waited, and

waited, and waited.....Andthen after a while, Heshrugged His shoulders, andHe took all those things rightback from the man, themoney, the time and theglorious talent. After a while,the man sighed and said, IfI only had some of thatmoney back, Id give it toGod. If I only had some of

that time, Id give it to God.If I could only rediscover thatglorious talent, Id give it toGod.

And God said, Oh, shut up.

And the man told some of hisfriends, You know, Im notso sure that I believe in Godanymore.

St. Casimir was the son of a king and grand-

son of an emperor. But he was a man little

interested in the arts of kings. Where roy-

alty sought greatness, Casimir preferred

humility. Where monarchs waged war tomaintain their power, Casimir abandoned

a military campaign that might have put

him on a throne and brought his army home

in peace. Where princes vied for the hands

of lovely ladies, Casimir took Mary as the

lady of his life and devoted himself to her

praise. According to the rule book of kings,

Casimir made all the wrong choices. But

according to the Gospel Book of the King of

Kings, Casimir chose the best. He exchanged

the fading glory of a crown of gold for thelasting brightness of a crown of holiness. He

made himself lowly on this earth and was

raised to the heights of Heaven. His was a

life of simplicity and God rewarded him by

surrounding him with the splendor of the

saints. Our patron saint was a remarkable

person. So wise and yet so young only

twenty-six when he died. So humble and yet

so famous so many churches are named

after him today. So saintly and yet so hu-

man a boy who found himself at odds with

his father and who suffered from chronic ill-

ness. St. Casimir, you are one of us and we

claim you as our own. St. Casimir, pray for

us and help us to be made worthy of the

promises of Christ.

Prayer to Our Patron Saint

St. Casimir, we turn to you. W e ask you

to awaken in us a deep love and respect

for Jesus Christ, present in the Holy

Eucharist. Grant us the wisdom to turn

to the Mother of God in time of nee d.

Give us compassion for those who suf-

fer and make our hearts peaceful that

we m ight never cause su ffering to an-

other. Help us to be faithful to our call-

ing in l i fe and guide those who are

searching to find the calling God has

c h o s e n f o r t h e m . P r a y f o r u s , S t .

Casimir that we may live well here on

Earth and one day live gloriously in the
