The ABS, traction control and electronic stability control systems in modern cars excel

and bring a sense of safety to driving. In extreme situations, in braking or in evasive

manoeuvres under slippery conditions you want safety to be more than just a feeling.

A tyre tested in extreme conditions supplements the cars safety systems and does

Using a canola-silica compound in thetread improves the tyres tear resis-

tance and wet grip and reduces roll-ing resistance without compromisingthe tyres winter properties.

Clean raw materials

Nokian Tyres is the worlds first tyremanufacturer to introduce a manu-facturing method using only purified,low-aromatic oils. In order to im-prove grip in icy and wet conditions,a renewable raw material, canola oil,is used in the tread mixture.

Quiet tyres

Nokian Tyres tread patterns feature anumber of noise-reducing innovations:the placing of tread blocks, protrusionsin longitudinal grooves, and noisecavities reduce tyre noise.

Grip, not only in snow and ice but also in mild and wet weather, was the focus in the design of this

new friction tyre designed and tested in the changeable weather and driving conditions of the North.

A completely new tyre with numerous innovations to enhance safety in driving was developed. The

pocket-like sipes on the tyres tread blocks remove water from an icy road surface and significantlyimprove grip. Low rolling resistance reduces fuel consumption by as much as 0.5 l/100 km*.

*A petrol-fuelled car with ECE consumption of8.5 l/100 km was used in the comparison.

Tyre size 205/55 R 16, which was comparedwith another European winter tyre.
