    Features of Technology

Systems are safe to operate and maintain and offer

verifiable disinfection the attributes that make it the

technology of choice in space make it a perfect choicefor rural water systems in undeveloped regions

For emergency and disaster relief, systems quickly and

easily deployed bring maximum effective response

Systems using chlorine, ozone, R.O., ultra-filtration and

Ultra Violet present inferior and even dangerous

    alternatives in these applications.

MICROBIOLOGICAL TESTING OF A0.5 GPM SYSTEM

Thorough testing of WSC technologies is the cornerstone of our productdevelopment. The purpose of the following tests at the University of Arizona

(Professor Charles Gerba) was to establish the effectiveness of the WSC

iodine-based purifier system technology in inactivating animal viruses

(mixture of Poliovirus 1 and Rotavirus) and MS2 phage. The testing was

conducted throughout the expected 3000-gallon throughput of the system.

The majority of microbiological tests were conducted under the worst case

scenario for I2-resin based systems (pH 5 and t = 40C) as designated by

the EPAs Guide Standard and Protocol for Testing Microbiological Water

    Purifiers.

Our experience and that of other researchers is that if the I2-resin based

systems provide u 4-log inactivation of the animal viruses and/or phage, thenthe same system would provide u 6-log inactivation of bacteria. Hence, only

inactivation of animal viruses and phage were investigated in these tests.
