Results of the Measurements


General Remarks

The measurement session is not a competition, even if one of the participants after the Boulder workshop called it:„World Championship of Geomagnetic Measurements“

The workshop in general is a platform to exchange experiences and to train less experienced colleagues.

The measurement session is something like a „calibration facility“

Nobody should feel discriminated, if his results are not completely satisfying.


Pillar Arrangements

NGRI provided in total 7 pillars for the measurement session

Pillar No. 3 was occupied all the time by the AUTODIF

The pillars were equipped with aluminium plates having 120°V-sluts and a central hole fitting with the tripod centrering bolt. So different instruments could be used, also those without foot screw triples.

This caused problems with the tribrach for a number of Zeiss instruments. Courtesy to Alan Berarducci to be ready and having the necessary tool for help.

Due to problems with the data logger, which was installed in August 2014, caused by power supply problems, water entering and software compatibility the “emergency set” was used:
