Objectives1. Promote research in life sciences through a framework that exceeds the boundaries of research fields and professional spheres. 2. Implement superior research projects by proactively supporting the design, planning, and execution of individual research.3. Improve the intellectual information environment necessary for research activities, and enrich the research environment. 4. Establish a support system for researchers and graduate students to energize research activities.5. Cultivate researchers with a high sense of morality, social skills, and a well-rounded character.6. 1. Elucidating etiological gene abnormalities based on molecular biology, and promoting gene therapy.2. Promoting cellular and tissue transplantation for organ regeneration.3. Promoting minimally invasive medical treatments utilizing functional imaging modalities.4. Developing advanced medical technologies and equipment and researches for development of new drugs while closely collaborating with the Graduate School of Medicine.5. Improving the function of the “Pharmaceutical Clinical Research Center”, and developing new drugs.

Missions and Goals1. Practicing holistic medicine from the standpoint of the patients.2. Fostering the development of excellent medical human resources　 in order to constantly improve the future of medicine.3. 1. As a core center of the local hospitals in Yamaguchi prefecture, helping to provide community based high quality medical care.2. Improving the primary care and providing holistic medicine for patients.3. Practicing multidisciplinary medical care (advanced emergency care, intensive care, perinatal care and diagnosis and therapy of cancers) by closely collaborating with other professionals in order to eliminate any existing barriers between various medical fields.4. Promoting highly-advanced medical treatment (transplantation medicine, functional surgery, tailor-made medicine relying on genetic analyses, etc.).5. Promoting medical cooperation between local hospitals and the establishment of a medical networking system utilizing the “Yamaguchi prefecture information super-network”.

1．分子生物学的研究に基づく病因遺伝子の解明及び分子病態学的研究を推進し、 新規診断法並びに治療法を開発する。2．組織・細胞レベルの移植・再生医療を推進する。3．機能画像的手法を取り入れた低侵襲医療を開発・推進する。4．大学院医学系研究科との連携により、先進的医療技術や医療機器の研究・開発 並びに診断・創薬研究を行う。5．臨床試験の拠点施設である臨床試験支援センターの機能を充実し、臨床研究や 新薬の研究・開発を推進する。

Research

1. Providing medical education and clinical training before and after graduation from the standpoint of human science.2. The key words of our medical education and clinical training programs are: improving the quality of life of the patients, improving team-work the prevention of medical accidents, and reaching a better under- standing medical economics by improving cost-effectiveness.3. Utilizing computer-assisted education systems to improve both medical education and clinical training.4. Improving the clinical training of medical students, especially regarding such training programs as the “Clinical Clerkship”.5. Improving the medical training system for post-graduate students to enable them to acquire various specialist qualifications.6. Contributing to the continuing education of medical practitioners in local districts and the education and training for the co-medical staff, holding lectures for the general public, and supporting the activities of patient organizations.7. Holding extension courses for citizen and supporting patients communities as educational programs to the local society.
