Itmay be the first timethey have ever been toan airport. With thatin mind, take time toact as an ambassadorfor aviation. Take timeto explain what takesplace at an airportand the importanceof the airport to thecommunity. Encouragethem to ask Questions.

BEFORE THE FL IGHT :In addition to a memorable flight experience , Young

Eagles will also remember the ir pilot. If appropriate ,provide your name and telephone number to the YoungEagle for any Questions their parents or guardiansmay have .

Each Young Eagle should already have aregistrationbrochure . This inc ludes important preflight information and the release/registra t ion form. Contact theYoung Eagles Oficeto obtain certificatesand regi strati on forms .Prior to the flight, youmust receive a signedregistration form from theparent or legal guardian of theparticipantandyou should completethe pilot portion of the registration, including the self-certification section.

DURING THE FL IGHT :experience you prov ide your Young Eagle will befor a lifetime . Someday, these Young Eagles

share a flight experience with another generationaviation enthusiasts .a common-sense approach to the flight.may take more than one young person at atime, but consider the experience from the

pa rtici pa nt's perspective. A light in acommercial airliner, for instance,

would not suit the intent ofthis program . Allow theparticipant's parent(s) toobserve or take part ascircumstances allow, butremember the child is thefocus of the event.

Plan your flight to beas pleasant as possible. VFRweather is required. When weighingweather conditions, remember you want the

to be conducted in the best conditions possible .example, windy, bumpy days do not make the bestimpression .'may let the Young Eagle follow through on thebut you must be in command of the aircraftall times. No hot loading, aerobatic maneuvers, attitudes or formation flights are permitted

Young Eagles Program. However, you may wantdemonstrate how the airplane is controlled throughclimbs . turns and descents. Apply see-andtechniques at all times .

AFTER THE FL IGHT :Congratu late you r new Young Eagle! Share theexcitement and encourage further questions. Take as

much time as possible with your Young Eagle. They havejust completed an experience they will long remember.Reward the young person with a Young EaglesCertificate and any other recognition you care to add,

such as the Young Eagles wristband .Remind the Young Eagle that their name will be

entered in the "World's Largest Logbook" located in theEAA AirVenture Museum in Oshkosh and on the Internetat www.youngeagles.org. BE SURE YOU SEND IN THEREGISTRATION FORM , so this can be accompl ished .Don't delay! Amisplaced or lost Registration Record wi"mean the Young Eagles will not be officially registeredfor this program or receive subsequent benefits .

Consider having acamera available for pictures. Shareyour post-flight rituals - replacing maps, straighteningthe cockpit and pushing the aircraft into the hangar.

Once the registration form is recorded at the YoungEagles office, they will receive an invitat ion to visit theYoung Eagles web site to see their name in the logbook. You can encourage a Young Eagle's interest in av iationwith an invitation to an EAA Chapter meeting, anintroduction to a flight instructor or simply an invitationfor another fl ight.

Finally, take pride in what you have done. TheYoung Eagles Office will officially record your missioninformation taken from the registration form . Pilots earnrecognition as their mission count grows. Remember,it's not too soon to begin arrangements for your nextYoung Eagle flight.

should be able to grasp the basic concepts of flying .over the age of 18 are adults and, as adults, are notfor the Young Eagles program. Registrations from

who are outside the age guidelines will be returnedpilot for clarification .Young Eagles Program only for ayoung person's

ride? The intent of the Young Eagles demonstration ride is

young people and provide a memorable flying. In many cases , however, it is the child 's firstexperience.
