Machines For Shopping In. The design for Transportation Hub deeply inspired by the former industrial site in north Melbourne. Machines were built there, embracing material and craft over abstract concept. I combined lots of machine shaped buildings on the site to reinforce for the idea of thinking machines in different scales, bring machines to be visualized, and let machines speak the history of the site.

The design is a linear park along Melbourne Light Rail. The above rendering shows the last ‘activity square’ at Station Pier. By researching the history of the site, Australia aboriginal people's activities on that area have given me the initial idea of having a series of 'aboriginal activity square' along Melbourne Light rail. The hope is that this Aboriginal Linear Park could raise the public awareness of this amazing, but sadly largely unknown, part of Australian history and help reinforce the notion that vibrant, sustainable communities existed here in Victoria for thousands of years.

This project explores the properties of surface as topology. Using strips of timber veneer, our design team of three emulated traditional boat making techniques of steaming and bending veneer to create cuvature and shell like structure. The accumula-tion of the surface in the Touchstone produces an ef-fect of spatial continuity, where a volume is open and closed at the same time.

On an architectural level, material is pure matter that can be ma-nipulated and shaped within the constraints and limitations of the material properties. This methodology embod-ies the notion of craft through the endurance of making.

Machining Aestheticsisan Architectural is a Design Studio I have taken in the University of Melbourne. It examines architectural de-sign as material and craft production. Through making procedures, the spatial and material prototypes present-ed in this exhibition ex-plore the interface between material, effects, and dig-ital technology. The exhi-bition features models and drawings of 9+1 projects; each project delivering a vision for a new home for Craft.

The reason grandchildren and grandparents get along so well is that they have a common enemy’. -Sam Levenson

The Health Community Centre is a gift for children and elderly people. My grand-pa’s everyday journey brought me the initial idea of cfeating a Health Community Centre in the East Werribee Employment Precinct to provide the opportunities for

gathering, sharing and playing. The Health Community Centre is a place for children and elderly people gathering together and it opens everyday for them. The three main ideas of creating this place for children and elderly people are: ‘easy access’, ‘range program’ and

‘unique features’. The Health Community Centre that connects to the IKEA also pro-vide opportunities for them to eat cheap meatball/breakfast quickly and safely.
