    There are many teenagers joining

    the gang

    In 2012, there are 600 thousandsteenagers in New York City, and5% of them were in gang, and89% of them are responsible toviolence. This may cause hugeissue to our society such as our

    safety. In order to improve ourcommunity we have to make aplan to solve these problem.

    Why teenagers involve in

    gang? In recent years there were many

    teenagers that drop out fromschool, and joined the gang. Not

    only the drop out of high schoolstudent, also there are manyother reasons why teenagers join

    the gang. For exampleunemployment, their safety, andfamily issue.

    The teenagers unemployment ratelocally is 32%.

    There are 37% of children had single

    parent in NYC. In New York City, there as many as

    22,000 gang members, and 40% ofgang members are under 18 years old.

    parent homes has been steadily increasing since 1970.It can cause the children join the gang because childrenare being left alone at home. They felt lonely.

    The teenager unemployment rate in 2008 in New York isaround 10-19%, but in 2012 is 37%. It will cause theconcerns of the financial problem to teenage that canget a job, or they join in the gang to earn money.

    The New York City high school graduation rate is lowercomparing to the nation. There are more dropout in NewYork City, some of these student joined the gang.

    Some Possible Solutions

    The government needs to create amentorship program or otherorganization to help teens, and those

    organizations can provide jobopportunities for teenagers.

    Create some organizations that cancreate job opportunities for those old

    people, so the grandparents can havethe economic base to take care of theirchildren.
