A game drive through Amboseli take you across this vast lakebed - often dry, but still very swampy in areas. Amboseli is best known for its great herds of elephant - you'll often find many of them standing knee-deep in the water, spraying themselves to keep cool. But there's a lot of other game here too - cheetah, buffalo, giraffe, many types of gazelle and other plains game - and it's all set against the amazing backdrop of majestic Mount Kilimanjaro showing all its glory. Meals and overnight at Oltukai Lodge or Similar (LDBB) Day 03: Amboseli National Park Breakfast at the lodge then enjoy morning and afternoon game drives. The National Park hosts five main wildlife habitats (open plains, acacia woodland, rocky thorn bush country, swamps and marshland) and covers part of a Pleistocene Lake Basin, now dry. Within this basin is a temporary lake; Lake Amboseli, that floods during years of heavy rainfall. Amboseli is unique for its big game and its great scenic beauty - and the landscape is dominated by the towering Mount Kilimanjaro. On a lucky day subject to the weather and cloud condition, you may be able to view the snow of the Mt. Kilimanjaro; Africa’s highest mountain. Meals and overnight at Oltukai Lodge or Similar (LDBB) Day 04: Amboseli – Lake Naivasha Depart after breakfast to Lake Naivasha. On your way you will visit the Hells gate National Park. Lake Naivasha is a beautiful freshwater lake, fringed by thick papyrus whose waters are shallow with an average depth of five metres. Lake area varies greatly according to rainfall, with an average range between 114 and 991 sq kms. Dinner and overnight at Lake Naivasha Sopa Resort or Similar (LDBB) Day 05: Lake Naivasha Morning breakfast and rest of the morning at leisure with optional activities offered by the lodge All meals and overnight at Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge (LDBB) Day 06: Naivasha – Masai Mara After breakfast take a walk around the freshwater lake. The lake is home to an incredible variety of bird species, it also has black bass and tilapia in the water. Drive along the Great Rift Valley to Kenya’s best known game reserve; Masai Mara arriving in time for lunch. After lunch get introduced to the herbivores, elephant, rhino, buffalo, and the variety of antelopes, the Masai giraffe and the Burchell zebra. The carnivores are the black mane lion, cheetah and leopard. Also to be seen are the hunting dog, the jackal and hyena; the largest bird, the Masai ostrich, the Secretary bird, the crested crane and saddle-bill stork. Flocks of small birds fly around and settle on the rhino and elephant. Crocodiles and hippos share the river. Return to your lodge by sunset. Dinner and overnight at Sarova Mara Game Lodge or Similar (LDBB) Day 07: Maasai Mara A whole day of game viewing lies ahead of you. Before breakfast game drive reveals secrets of the night. As the morning starts out cool, hot coffee, tea and snacks are laid out to partake of before leaving. You may see lioness or cheetah at a kill or a lion enjoying a kill with a family of cubs waiting to feed. Hyenas and vultures will also be waiting their turn near the carcass. Antelope grazing peacefully, safe in the knowledge that at least for now the predator is well fed, all the animals are having ‘breakfast’. Crocodiles are lying in wait for the animals that will come to the river to drink. Hippos usually leave the water to graze in the late evening or night; the heat of the sun is harmful to their skin so they spend the day swimming or submerged in the shallow water. After breakfast the visitor may like to relax in the cool water of the swimming pool supplied with cool drinks by the attentive staff.

The afternoon game drive will take the visitor to the leopard’s hideout. He may be asleep in the tree with the kill which he

has dragged up with him or he may just be watching his ‘visitors’. One should not under estimate the calm looks the

leopard gives. Return to your lodge after watching the spectacular African sunset. Meals and overnight at Sarova Mara Game Lodge or Similar (LDBB) Day 08: Depart Breakfast at the lodge/camp and thereafter drive back to Nairobi. Leave Masai Mara and head back to Narok, district headquarters of this part of Maasailand and then travel across the vast plains on the floor of the Rift Valley - keep an eye out for herds of giraffe and gazelle - and head up the Rift Escarpment on a road built by Italian prisoners of war during World War II. You will arrive in Kenya's bustling capital city in the early afternoon then be transferred to the Airport for your home bound flight depending on flight timings.
